WHY2j
Posted on 4/23/08 12:57 PM
The title of this blog may not portray what the blog is about properly, I'm just going to say that right now. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Jericho. I agree that he is one of the greatest wrestlers to ever grace a squared circle. But there is something I am about to say that I never thought I would say in my lifetime: Y2J is going to ruin the match at backlash. Adding him as a special guest referee was completely unnecessary. Here we had what appeared to be a great, emotionally charged match between HBK and Batista. The two alone would have made a good match, hell, I would go so far as to say that it had the potential to be as epic as the likes of Batista/Undertaker at Wrestlemania 23 (i know that's pushing it, but its true). But then, as the WWE loves to do, they overdosed on storyline. The WWE believes that a match cannot be good unless they smother it with a storyline like they are doing here. What the WWE doesn't get is that a match doesn't need a whole lot of background in order to be a good match. It is possible to just put two people in the ring and have a good match. I'm not saying I don't like storylines. Hell, I thought the direction they were going with HBK/Batista was excellent because it was relevant, with Batista being a favorite student of Flair and HBK being the man that had to pull the trigger on Naitch's career. But Y2J was excessive. In my opinion, save for a few circumstances (like Trump/McMahon at WM 23), the special guest referee stipulation should solely be used on the weeknight shows to promote a pay-per-view match and not in the pay-per-views themselves. They generally kill the quality of the match, and are just not necessary. Now it is your turn to voice your opinion. Do you think special guest referees help or hurt pay-per-view matches?

The WWE Poll
Posted on 1/8/08 3:58 AM
I will answer my own questions, but i also want other members to.
1) Favorite (active) WWE Superstar
The Undertaker.
Seriously, he has an undefeated record at Wrestlemania, and he has the most badass entrance in the WWE.
2) Most badass WWE Superstar (current or past)
Stone Cold Steve Austin.
I mean come on. HE STUNNED THE DONALD! That, and i remember a buried alive tag team mach on SD between the Rock and Sock connection and Big Show and Unertaker where Triple H interfered. Trips was about to put Big Show in an ambulance, and right as he opened the back doors...
...out pops Stone Cold, twin birdies and an asswhupping included!
3) Most humorous WWE Superstar:
Umaaga. With all the foreign language, its funny to listen to. That, and , as proven by The Rock, his name means Shriveled Up Monkey Penis!
4) Least favorite active WWE superstar
Santino Marella.
I thought he had potential, but hes just proven to be a huge asshole.
5) Favorite WWE Legend
The Immortal One, Hulk Hogan.
No one is NEARLY as inspirational. Every time he hulks up, you cant help but feel the energy! One of my favorite moments was when he kicked outta Michael's sweet chin music and hulked up. Never have i seen so much energy!
6) Least favorite WWE Legend
Doink The Clown.
that was one of the stupidest characters in the world.
7) Favorite WWE Diva
Mickie James.
Shes got it all, the looks, the skills, the personality, everything.
8) Least favorite WWE Diva
Beth Phoenix. I just dont like her, i am not sure why.
9) Most inspiring return to the ring you have ever seen
Triple H at Summerslam.
That entrance was all about the fans. The smirk in his face, the extended entrance, you could tell he was ready to come back, and the fans were more than willing to welcome him back.
10) Your favorite match of all time.
Undertaker vs. Batista, Wrestlemania 23.
That was the most energizing match i have ever seen. From Undertaker's entrance to seeing every single finisher those guys had to offer (not to mention seeing them endure almost every one), to the ultimate end, it was a beautiful sight to see!
11) The most humorous match you have ever seen
Mr. McMahon (rep'd by Umaaga) vs. Donald Trump (rep'd by Bobby Lashley), WM23.
With Stone Cold Steve Austin in the stripes, you know this was a match to watch. From seeing Donald try to motivate lashely, to seeing him clothesline McMahon, to seeing McMahon bald, to seeing Steve Austin Stunner Trump at the end, it was certainly a sight to see, and one that i definitely watch pretty often. -
The Genius Of The Four Faces Of Foley
Posted on 1/7/08 3:27 AM
I know a lot of people dont really like the idea of a guy with so many different wrestling personalities. But in my opinion, this has lead to some of the greatest moments in the WWE. I am here to list two of my favorites, and explain why i think they are some of the greatest moments in the WWE.
1) The 1998 Royal Rumble
This is one of the few Royal Rumbles to feature a man entering twice, let alone three different times. To see Cactus Jack, Dude Love, AND Mankind enter one royal rumble, to basicallyhave Mick Foley enter the Rumble three different times, is something that i doubt that we'll ever see replicated in the future of sports entertainment.
2) The introduction of Cactus Jack into the WWF to face Triple H in a Falls Count Anywhere match
It was as obvious to the fans that Mick Foley was behind these three other characters as it was that Mr. America was Hulk Hogan. Therefore, to have a videoclip before the match that included not one, not two, but all three of Foley's alter egos took technology that was pretty unheard of at the time.
So for all those out there who may be cynical about the idea of a superstar having multiple personalities like that, just look at what the WWF/WWE did with the Mick Foley characters, and you will see how these different personalities provide the opportunity for unique and intriguing sports entertainment that people will want to watch.
