The State of WWE Announcers...
Posted on 4/23/08 3:40 AM
This is just a pure opinoin from someone who always watch the WWE programming every week (RAW, ECW and SMACKDOWN. Announcers are one of the most integral part in a program such as this. And, this is my two cents of the current state of WWE announcers.
RAW (JR and The King)
-Probably the best announcing team ever, they are one of the reasons why I like wrestling. However, today they seem to be a little bit bland compared to during the Attitude days. King has somewhat changed a bit and becoming more like a face announcer, unlike during the days where he was cheering on heels such as Evolution and Mcmahon. I really like when he was cheering on Triple H and JR gets irated. Hopefully, he will come back to his old wise heelish ways.
-JR is in my book the best wrestling announcer in the history of wrestling. The way he talks during a match and the way he express his voice especially during the climax of a match certainly can move people. I still remember the way he says "AUSTIN WINS!! AUSTIN WINS!!" when the Rattlesnake won the title at Mania, or the time when Cena came out at the Royal Rumble. It gets me excited. Nowadays, that excitement seems to run out. That voice seems to fade away. Maybe the age factor that prevented JR to speka like the way he did during the Attitude days.
SMACKDOWN (Michael Cole and Jonathan Coachman)
-Simply put, the WORST announcer team in my book. Both of this guys are nearly the same in terms of voice and the way they interpret a match. I wish I have the capability of putting the MUTE button whenever I watch Smackdown.
-Several questions I want to ask. Why pairing up these two in the first place? Their roles were very similar back when they were partnered with someone else. It's like hearing two of the same voices. Edge-Taker at Mania would be so much better if the match was called by the other announcers.
ECW (Tazz and Mike Adamle)
-One of my favourite announcers is Tazz. Because he simply knows what he is doing. He calls a match accurately, telling us the pyschological and the physical aspect of that match very thoroughly. He is also very good with is comments and are able to balance between supporting the heel and face wrestlers.
-I do not want to talk about Mike Adamle because he is not even worth mentioning.
Suggestions
-Please team up Michael Cole and Tass back together. IMO, they have great chemistry together and I genuinely think that they are capable in replacing JR and King at Raw.
-Put JBL back to the announcing chair. IMO he is really talented a s a heel announcer back when he was announcing for Smackdown and I find it as a waste for putting him back to wrestling.
-Fresh faces that ARE talented is so much needed by the WWE. Why put Mike "knees to the chest" Adamle over guys such as Todd Grisham who is not that great but good? Baffles me. They can hire ex-wrestlers as announcers. IMO, Booker T can be a good announcer. He is very knowledgable when it comes to wrestling moves and knows about various aspects of a wrestling match. They should even call back Al Snow aand pair him up with Coach again.
-Put Joey Styles back in ECW. For goodnes sake, he is the voice of ECW. Taking him away means that ECW is totally being buried.
And that's my two cents...

I just want to know, which superstars would you want to switch shows for the draft. I know it still not out but it is a possibility. Please give your thoughts.
