The Reason For Candice Michelle's Push
Submitted by jeff from www.wrestlezone.com on 9/22/08 6:28 PM
One reason is because they believe she's injury prone and they want to use her while they can now.

Sorry I tried to give a direct link to the page, but I guess I couldn't.
" Another reason is because they feel Candice is more marketable than Mickie James, because Mickie is more into the actual wrestling and less into the glamorous "Diva" stuff ".
Statements like that are the reasons why the wwe's women's division has been going downhill since Trish and Lita left. Why would you push a diva who is so bad at wrestling that she can possibly make Ashley look good. Candice is the queen of botchfest and its obvious that Candice is blowing someone to get this push.
Second isn't this wrestling. Isn't wrestling suppose to be the main focus of your product. The fact that the wwe made that stupid statement or thinks that just proves more that the divas are nothing more than eye candy. Mickie is the most over diva in the wwe and to me she is more marketable because she can actually wrestle. Not only that, but Mickie is way hotter than the Candice. I guess the wwe will never learn.

Yeah, I agree. I actually remember the days when WWE tried to do, "diva stuff," and actual women's wrestling. The difference then was that women who could wrestle got championship pushes and women like Candice did crappy skits with the likes of Mae Young before wrestling mid-card filler matches. Not that I like those any more than I like seenig Candice getting a push, though. I don't get why they can't focus on women who are both athletic and sexy as hell, like Mickie. You can still hook all the horny old men and adolescent boys and give a postive role model to women who is getting ahead through athletic achievement rather than being able to do a stripper dance.

ENTERTAINMENT is the main focus of WWE. Please don't forget it. However, I find Mickie James more entertaining than Candice Michelle any day, so I'm not sure what creative sees that I don't. Obviously Candice is more marketable thanks to the Go Daddy/Playboy appearances, and not being shy about it. Question is, why is Mickie not willing to do (any more) what Candice does to get ahead?

Wrestling IS ENTERTAINMENT. You should never forget that. Therefore wrestling should be the main focus of the wwe.

As for your question DXSSI Mickie doesn't need to blow someone to get ahead. Mickie has a choice of staying with the WWE or going to TNA. Trust me Mickie is no angel either as i've seen nude pictures of her, but she keeps quiet of those pictures because she wants people to see her as a wrestler not some stripper or model trying to wrestle. I'm sure TNA will have no problem taking Mickie because Mickie can become the top face of TNA and replace Gail Kim.

Hey Jeff, where have you seen nude pictures of Mickie James?

Entertainment doesn't justify everything. Oh, let's be racially insensitive, but it's entertainment, so it's OK. Let's push the pretty women and not the athletically talented women. We don't have to worry about the message that sends to young women watching our programming, because it's entertainment. It's never JUST entertainment. Think about who it's entertaining to, and why it's not entertaining to some.
As for Mickie not being willing to pose for Playboy, believe it or not some women still believe it's degrading to have to take their clothes off for millions of people in order to get ahead in their profession. I know, I know, they're probably either prudes or on their period just because they don't think a public exhibition of their bodies is a casual experience, but whatever, pretty soon WWE will have cleared all those crazy women's libbers out and all their Women's Champions will have made it to the top by subjecting themselves to objectification rather than through athletic achievement like it should be. That way, rather than having strong female characters in role model positions we'll have a bunch of models sending the message that having physical beauty judged by high, often unattainable standards and acting sexually promiscuous is the real way for women to get ahead in life. One can only hope.

I don't blame ANY diva for not wanting to go the "easy" route and just be a pretty face for Vince. I've never been a huge fan of the female wrestlers, anyway. Call me old school, but I kinda go back to what Freddi Blassie said once. "During the territory days, promoters trying to bring in extra money would bring in a few dames to do a program, and he'd make a little money... Maybe a month or so later, he'd bring in midgets, and make a little more... Neither of them were staples in the regular programs, they were always a side event... a little extra for the fans." I liked watching Trish, Lita, Jazz, Jackie, Victoria, Molly Holly, Ivory, etc. But, not every show... not every ppv... hell, maybe not even every month, UNLESS you're using them in the same fashion as the men (credible title defenses, believable storylines, entertaining gimmicks). It lessens the entertainment value to me (I mean, who REALLY will remember the first Lingerie Pillow Fight?).
