Hold it!! Where is Shelton Benjamin on that ballet!!! He carried the Money in the Bank, and that was the best match of the night! I don't care if he won, he hit the Sunset flip, then got wrecked through that ladder, c'mon!

  • Wrestlemania XXIV exceeds my expectations

    Posted on 3/30/08 11:35 PM

For the past few years if you ordered Wrestlemania you can really expect a half hour of awesome action. 1 or 2 match usually steal the show. (We had Angle/Micheals then Edge/Foley) But this year was different, there was no clear show-stealing match. They had the best Money in the Bank to date, which I feel was the match of the night; you had Taker winning a breath-taking bout with Edge finally getting the main event he deserved; and you had Flair's final match, which saw Micheals take a unimaginable blow into the table, which my bro claims was the best of the night.
The truth is there was no real bad match. They were all great. And even though I predicted this to be one of the top five Mania's ever, it even exceeded my expectations (I'd probably put this at number 2).

BunnyMania- Very impressive for a diva match. It focused on wrestling and not pillow fighting.

ECW Ordeal- The battle royal was what you'd expect, but the match didn't give Chavo justice. And it kinda makes CM Punk look bad. (Chavo just beat him clean)

Triple Threat- It was very surprising to see Orton win. And even though that was a really short match, it's still great to see Cena's reversal of roles as he got pinned after one pedigree.

Batista/Umaga- It was a good match that could have been better.

Mayweather/Show- I'm surprised at how good this one was. The posse getting involved was cliche, but entertaining. I love that Mayweather didn't win clean, cause it doesn't make Show look bad.

JBL/Finlay- This was a great match. This would have been the second best match if it took place any of the last four years. It was a very good match, that got back to some hardcore action which we haven't seen in a while.

Undertaker/Edge- Watching Charles Robinson run down the humorously long entrance way seemed like an eternity. Was Taker gonna win?...1...2.......NO!.. This match was redicilously good. And as you watched the ref go down and the Edgeheads get taken out everything was setting Edge up for the win. He hit the Spear and you knew this was his only chance. I thought he was gonna end the streak, but after Taker kicked out, you knew it was just a matter of time. 4 and half stars.

Ric Flair's last match- I shouldn't have to say any more, so I'll keep it short. Perfect opponent, perfect match. Have you ever seen something as painful as Michaels hitting that table? This match was such an emotional ride.

Money in the Bank- This match was so exciting. I'm a big fan of all 7 superstars. This saw a sweet sunsetflip-superplex and a flip through a ladder that were both overshadowed by Matt Hardy's return. I was pulling for Jericho, but even I cheered when he got tangled up and Punk pulled the breifcase down to win the best Money in the Bank match yet.

Now, I was expecting a great show, and I was still surprised. So I can only imagine what you ne-sayers are thinking. After watching that I think the only Wrestlemania's that can compare are XIX(19), X-Seven (17), 2000 (16), and X (ten).

  • Expectations for Wrestlemania

I don't understand why everyone around here feels the urge to post blogs about how they'd rebook 'Mania or why Bunny Mania is such a "Farce..."

How could anyone want to rebook this!? If I were asked to change the card the only thing I could think of is to hold a tournament to unify the tag titles at Mania. But everything else is fine.

As for the Bunny Mania match, lets look at the last few ?Mania diva matches: We have Ashley vs. Melina in a lumberjill match and Candice v. Torrie in a pillow fight (each of which were held after the ?main event?), we?ve also got Trish v. Christy (who was horrible at the time) and the so-called playboy evening gown match. This year we?ve got two divas who can really wrestle v. two divas who are greatly improving in a wrestling match. They?re trying to do what TNA is being praised for, they are finally having wrestling matches instead of girls rolling around in their underwear? and as for Snoop Dogg being involved, he is a huge name; and no matter what you say, celebrity involvement is great for Wrestlemania. And it?s what ?Mania is all about....

Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship - This should be a great match. Orton will perform like we all know he can, Triple H will win the belt, and Cena won?t be so bad. Cena?s got two great wrestlers to carry him, so it?ll be ok for him to only use 4 moves.

World Heavyweight Champion Edge vs. Undertaker - This match will be phenomenal. Either Taker wins and there is nothing wrong with that, or Edge wins and becomes undeniably one of the best wrestlers in WWE history.

Floyd "Money" Mayweather vs. Big Show - Who knows this could be a good match. LT did some decent stuff against Bam Bam, and Floyd is being trained by Matt Sydal.< How sweet would it be if Floyd pulled off some sweet flip?> I?m just hoping this isn?t the main event.

Ric Flair vs. Shawn Michaels - It?s time for Flair to retire and this is the best way for it to happen. I consider HBK to be one of the best three wrestlers of all time, and he should be the one to end Flair?s career. And it?ll be tough for me not to shed a tear when Flair walks out of the ring for last time.

MITB - 7 great wrestlers with 7 great personalities. All of whom perform well in high profile matches. Could be the highlight of the night. And I?d love for any of them to end up winning the title.

Batista v. Umaga - Batista can perform when matched with the right opponent; he?s proven that against Taker. I think Umaga is a great wrestler and he just kinda fits with Batista.

JBL v. Finlay - perfect booking. Both of these men shine in hardcore matches, so this could not be better.

Finally, you can never go wrong with a Battle Royal. Always entertaining. Plus now guys who we didn?t think were gonna have a match (like Kane and Elijah) will get one. Maybe this?ll be Kane?s chance for one more title push that we all know he deserves. And Chavo?s a terrific wrestler, so the follow up will be great match.

I honestly think that this year's Mania has potential to be one of the best ever.

  • Lawrence Taylor/ Bam Bam 2

This Mayweather/ Big Show angle started out alright, but I don't like where it's turning to. Mayweather turned himself heel by acting cocky and all of the sudden its a Mayweather v. WWE angle. Now personally I think Mayweather should have been pushed as the heel from the beginning, now I'm not sure who's really the good guy here.
When Big Show left the WWE it was to persue a boxing career; that's how he lost all that weight. They should have made this a boxing match.

Now, they've both got posse's backing them up, what this is becoming is Lawrence Taylor and his posse v. Bam Bam Bigelow and his posse.... And I'm pretty sure that this will be the main event like that one was. Bad idea then, bad worse now. The main event should be reserved for Edge/Taker or the Triple Threat match.

What is Jeff Hardy's deal. He's a goodguy! Why is he always handing out cheapshots?! He's not a heel, he needs to know his role!

Mayweather vs. Show segment kinda sucked. It's always a little screwy when they have someone via satelyite, cause there's a lag. Mayweather and Show were arguing on a five second delay.

I love Michaels' figure four. It's the exact same move as the figure four except easier to do. He sets it up like a sharpshooter and just falls back, that's cool. You ever try to hook in a figure four on someone, it's not easy. (On an unrelated note, it doesn't actually reverse the pressure when you rollover. I think that's pretty funny.)
