"The Impact" Makes His Armageddon Picks

WWE United States Championship
Champion MVP versus Rey Mysterio
Personally, I don't like Mysterio, and I like MVP and think he's going to become big a few years down. As for the title match, you know as well as I do, it should have been MVP versus Matt Hardy, but because of Hardy's inconveniencing appendix bursting action, he's out. So I think they'll let MVP hold onto it until Hardy comes back to finish out their feud the right way.
Predicted Winner: Champion MVP
Finlay versus the Great Khali
I quite honestly don't see the point of this. I personally believe they MIGHT be leading to a Finlay versus McMahon WrestleMania match, because McMahon seems to like wrestling old wrestlers at the yearly extravaganza. I see screw job in here somewhere.
Predicted Winner: The Great Khali
WWE Women's Championship
Champion Beth Phoenix versus Mickie James
Man,.. my two favorite female wrestlers in professional wrestling today. I mean, I loved these two women in the ring since BEFORE either of them even landed in the WWE. I've seen Phoenix wrestle OVW and SHIMMER matches, and first saw Mickie wrestle as Alexis Laree in WEW and remember her from her run in TNA Wrestling. And hands down, they're the best competitors in the WWE today for the women. Even if they don't get to display their real talents enough. It's a tough one for me to call... I hope they lead this to a feud... but I'm sure Candice's return will demolish that thought down the line.
Predicted Winner: Champion Beth Phoenix
Mr. Kennedy versus Shawn Michaels
I know everyone always hangs on the legend's nuts, such as Flair and Michaels and Undertaker, but be realistic. HBK will be used as a stepping stone to put Kennedy where he would have been if he hadn't gotten injured so many times - main event status.
Predicted Winner: Mr. Kennedy..... KENNEDY.
Big Daddy V & Mark Henry versus Kane & CM Punk
What's the point of this? Someone please tell me?
Predicted Winner: CM Punk and Kane
#1 Contenders Match - WWE Championship
Triple H versus Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy
I know I'm biased with these two, because I've rarely been a Triple H fan, and I've been a fan of Jeff Hardy since I first started watching wrestling, starting with WrestleMania XV when he and Matt wrestled the Brood. But honestly, Jeff is talent, and will make it to main event status, and was there once before (remember the ladder match with Taker anyone?) Jeff's time is coming, and I believe Hunter's been purposely putting people over for the future of main eventers, hence his long angle with Umaga for no real tangible reason and a lightened stress on Trips going for a title. Somehow, Triple H puts Hardy over and Hardy gets his next big title match. Also, if you pay attention, they've been grooming Jeff for this. His placement on the shows, when he comes out for matches, more backstage promos, higher impact matches, and his dark matches. He actually had a WWE Championship match with Orton in an Australia house show, which he almost won, after winning a battle royal in which he eliminated Triple H himself. Expect the beginning of another passing of the torch.
Predicted Winner: Jeff Hardy
WWE World Championship
Champion Batista versus Edge versus Undertaker
Last I heard, they were preparing for Edge versus Undertaker at WrestleMania 24, and had been since WrestleMania 23. With Undertaker clearly undefeated at WM, and Edge technically undefeated at WrestleMania as well (it's tough to count last year's Money in the Bank as a loss, but he didn't win either). I think that's still the plan, and I think once again Taker will chase the gold.
Predicted Winner: Edge
WWE Championship
Chris Jericho versus Champion Randy Orton
Before Jericho returned, I would have thought Orton to hold the gold thru WrestleMania. With a #1 Contenders match on this card putting someone completely new into the picture, the feud with Jericho and Orton will be cut rather short, perhaps, and it's hard to say who will make it out as champion, considering you won't know where they're going with this. We could see the return of Orton versus Triple H for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble. On the other hand, we might see Jericho versus Jeff Hardy for the title instead. Or even Jericho versus Triple H or Hardy versus Orton. It's tough... But with Jericho's improved in-ring abilities, better shape, better gimmick, reignited passion... they may give it to him. Sides, no one wanted Cena as champion, Orton's a heel and gets heat too... they haven't had a cheered face win the gold in a while.
Predicted Winner: Chris Jericho
Therefore, my prediction on the Royal Rumble 2008 WWE Championship match, as of now, would be to see Jericho versus Jeff Hardy... and that would be a highly entertaining match.

Anybody that follows the gospel of Meltzer knows that the latest news on the WrestleMania main event is that HHH will win the title at/around the Royal Rumble and then defend against Batista at WrestleMania. With that piece of knowledge, at least three of the matches here for Armageddon are easy to predict.
The thing is though, that idea sucks! Orton/HHH already has a couple of months build behind, and changing gears for WrestleMania would only serve to help Batista out as a heel, if that's what they are even going for. Luckily, we all know that plans change in the WWE left and right, so perhaps HHH/Batista for 'Mania will never come to pass.
Here's my picks for the PPV:
Orton/Jericho - There is no reason for Jericho to win here, unless they want to keep Orton as Champ going into 'Mania and want to give Jericho a short run in the interim. Also, Jericho doesn't seem to have the momentum to be champion just yet (if ever). Either way, we know that Jeff Hardy or Triple H will be next for the champ at the Royal Rumble, so I'll go with Orton retaining.
Undertaker/Edge/Batista - Whether he is heading to RAW or not, I'm sure Batista is losing here. Also, the popular opinion is that Edge and the Undertaker will do battle for the belt at WrestleMania 24. Since Undertaker won the Rumble last year, I'll gamble on him winning the title at Armageddon, and Edge winning the Rumble (if Triple H doesn't) to earn the next shot.
Jeff Hardy vs. Triple H - I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the HHH title shot is saved for WrestleMania, so I think Jeff Hardy would be a fun interim opponent. Also, with the year he's had, and how over Jeff is, he really deserves it. I'll pick Jeff here.
Shawn Michaels vs. Mr. Kennedy - Kennedy still looks to be in the dog house, but I think that we'll see this feud continue until at least the Royal Rumble. I'll bet on an inconclusive finish here, or perhaps HBK wins cleanly to set up Kennedy to seek revenge.
US Title - MVP vs. Rey Mysterio - Kinda weird that Rey is supposed to be one of WWE's biggest stars, yet he hasn't really done much of anything since returning at SummerSlam. Perhaps he'll win the US title here? Personally I doubt it, since MVP vs. Matt Hardy for the US belt seems like the perfect match for WrestleMania... so I'll go with MVP to win it here.
Finlay vs. The Great Khali - A few weeks ago, I would have picked Finlay, but it looks like Khali may be Hogan's opponent for WrestleMania. Perhaps they are just booking Khali with Finlay to make the giant a less shitty worker. The Irishman could rub off on him. Khali wins it here.
CM Punk and Kane vs. Big Daddy V and Mark Henry - 2007 is the year of teams of rivals in the WWE. Cena/HBK, Batista/Undertaker, Rated RKO, Matt Hardy and MVP, John Morrison and The Miz, Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes, and now, I'm thinking Kane and CM Punk will join that list. They get the win at Armageddon, and Kane goes after the ECW Title.
Women's title - Beth Phoenix vs. Mickey James. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a supporter of the idea of Candice Michelle being the focus of the women's division. But the fact is, WWE does subscribe to that theory, and with Candice coming back soon they are going to want her to challenge Beth for the belt. Phoenix retains.

all right im always the odd man out so im gonna make my predictions yay me right
Orton/Jericho--I definatly dont see jericho winning here, it wouldnt make much sence anyway, i know batista is supposed to win the rumble and face orton or hhh, but either way id like to see orton/hardy sometime for the title. winner--orton
Edge/Batista/Undertaker--i really like edge here cuz he needs the title, hes a better champion than batista or taker,i could see edge winning here, batista wins the rumble, and taker/egde at mania, taker wins goes on a lil streak then retires(finaly) winner---Edge
Jeff Hardy/Triple H---Im a huge Hardy fan and if he beats HHH that would catipult him into main event status really quick, so this match could go both ways, but the title isnt on the line, sign that hardy will lose. I can see Jeff Hardy losing the IC title soon, and going on to win the money in the bank. But thats wat im sayin winner--Triple H
HBK/Mr.Kennedy--I am going to love this match, im a kennedy and an HBK fan, so watching them go at it should be fun, i think kennedy is going to win here, cuz kennedy is long overdue to reach main event status, HBK is at the age where he is just putting guys over, but on the other hand HBK winning here could spark a feud leading to mania, kinda like the Jericho/HBK feud a few years back winner---HBK
MVP/Mysterio--Why? ok again im a hardy fan so im gonna say MVP wins here and takes it to mania where matt will finally win the title winner---MVP
Finlay/Khali---again why? i can see this turning into a geezer fest at mania, so im definatly gonna go with the big man here, hell get screwed but w/e i dont even care winner---the great khali
cm punk and kane/big daddy v and mark henry--o my goodness vince is prolly crapping his pants while watching this one, he loves big guys. But i think its gonna b kane and cm punk aqnd kane wins ecw title at mania winner--CM and Kane
womens title sux noone cares

Ortan vs Jericho - Although Jericho's here to save us, I don't think it's at this ppv, I don't see a clean finish. I'll take Orton to win this one, but what the hell are they going to do with Jericho after this?--Orton.
Edge vs Batista vs Undertaker - Well if Batista's supposed to win the Royal Rumble, he's out, and while I'd like to see another Undertaker title reign, I'd rather see Edge.-- Edge.
Jeff Hardy vs Triple H - This has the potential to be awesome. As long as it's not another Triple H burial, it should be a really good match. I am a big Hardy fan, but I just don't see Triple H passing up a title shot.-- Triple H.
HBK vs Mr. Kennedy - Looking forward to this match, should be good, unless Kennedy injures HBK with a hiptoss... Either way though, I see Kennedy winning this one.-- Kennedy.
MVP vs Mysterio - Don't really get this match, but I could be a good one. I don't really see a reason for Mysterio to win this, probably just a way to build MVP up so Matt Hardy can chop him down.-- MVP.
Finlay vs Khali - Come on, you had to go and ruin a great card with Khali, then again, maybe Finlay will break Khali's legs with the shillelagh (how wwe.com spells it) or possibly beat Khali to death with Hornswaggle. Anyway, I see this match as a complete joke, hope it's over in less than a minute.-- Khali (result of DQ).
CM Punk and Kane vs Big Viss and Vince's Sexual Chocolate Mark "It's a Hand!" Henrey- Why? I agree Vince will be crapping his pants, durring this match, for some reason he loves large men (hell, he even gives them "sexual" gimmicks). Don't care who wins.-- Big Daddy V and Mark Henrey (result of a 450 splash from Big Daddy V followed by a corkscrew moonsault from Henrey)... (for got to mention, both moves are performed from a ladder through a flaming table).
Beth Pheonix vs Mickie James - I actually like this match, has a chance of beaing a really good women's match.-- Mickie James (Result due to the fact I'm sick of the word "Glamazon".)
This ppv has great potential, hope it doesn't let us down. The first WWE ppv I've considered ordering in over 2 years.
From 92tombstone92 on 12/12/07 8:09 PM
Y2J vs Orton i don't think WWE would bring back Y2J just to make him lose at his first PPV in 2 yrs so Y2J wins is my opinion.
Edge vs Batista vs Undertaker Edge wins because once again WWE wouldn't bring back an quote un quote injured superstar and not let him win at a PPV
Hardy vs. HHH- HHH hits jeff with low blow than hits him with a pedigree and wins the title shot.
HBK vs. Kennedy - Hate Kennedy but hes gonna win.
MVP vs. Mysterio- Mysterio wins with the 619.
Finlay vs Khali - don't care not a big fan of either of them
Punk and Kane vs. Big V and Mark Henry- Kane chokeslams Big V and picks up the pin
beth and mickie- mickie wins cause i aggre with mikeym331 and sick of hearing the word glamazon
From Petedaddydolla on 12/13/07 2:21 PM
All right my TURN, lemme give ya a rundown of what promises to be an OVER-HYPED, as well as OVER-PRICED event.
1)MVP vs Mysterio: Don't really care for the "underdog" story of Rey anymore, MVP is talented and deserves the push and a match with Matt the Appendicitis Hardy when he gets back.
winner: BAAAAAAAAAALLLIN' MVP still U.S. Champion
2)Khali vs Finlay? What the hell is this about, Hornswoggle is wearing very thin with this stupid "illegitimate" kid angle. Plus Khali is about as mobile as Hogan, which was evident on Raw this past Monday night.
Winner: Khali in a meaningless match as well as a dead-end story.
3)Women's Title Match: Champion Beth Phoenix vs Mickie James
I love both of them so much because they represent the Divas much better than ANY of the other bimbo-wanna be wrestlers like Maria or that worthless Candace Michelle. These two are wrestlers first and divas second.
Winner: Beth retains only to get screwed as soon as Ms. Cellulite Go Daddy Circle Twirling Cottage Cheese Thighs makes her return. For some reason unbeknown st to me the WWE seems to think this talentless idiot is a fitting representative of the Womens Division. I would rather see MAE YOUNG as the Womens champ than Candace. At least at one time she WAS talented!
4)Ken Kennedy vs Shawn Michaels
Kennedy should win this match to give him a big push going forward to the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania 24. He should have had a WWE Title shot after winning the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WM 23, but no they decided to go with an Edge/Cena angle after Edge beat Kennedy for his contract for the title match. Hey WWE, how did that work out for ya?
Winner: Kennedy
5)The WWE Title #1 Contenders Match: Triple H vs Jeff Hardy
I have to agree with IMPACT on this one. Jeff is being put in position for a MASSIVE PUSH toward the WWE Title picture.
Triple H is the best person for him to work with because he can put people over like few others can. But this makes me wonder what are they actually going to do with Jericho if he wins the title, put Hardy over on him?
winner: Jeff Hardy
6)Kane & CM Punk vs Mark Henry & Viscera...Mabel...Big Daddy V
This match is a worthless waste of TV time and another sorry attempt at being "Extreme"
winner: NO ONE WHO WATCHES THIS MATCH WINS, go make a sandwhich during this one.
7)World Heavyweight Championship Match: Batista vs Taker vs Edge: I find it funny that the WORLD title is defended on the undercard to the WWE title, don't you? I am thinking Batista comes out on top of this on, I hope they don't let Mr. Lovehandles Edge take this match, they could give the belt to Taker heading into the Royal Rumble though,
winner: and still champion Batista
8)WWE Title Match: Randy Orton vs Chris Jericho
I see Jericho winning this match, he didn't come out of a 2 year retirement to job at the first pay per view he is on. Orton doesn't need the belt, he is a tool and has no charisma what so ever. Plus a possible Y2J vs Hardy is a enticing headliner at a future PPV!
Winner: Y2J
From theone86 on 12/14/07 1:51 PM
MVP/Mysterio: I'm going to stray away from popular opinion here and go with Mysterio. As someone mentioned, for being one of the top stars in the company he really hasn't done mutch lately. Combine that with the fact that WWE has loved over faces like Mysterio as U.S. champ, the possibility that Mysterio could drop the belt to MVP or Hardy relatively quick setting up a post-mania fued, the possibility that it could turn into a three-way at Mania, the possibility that the title might not be defended at all and all three could be in Money in the Bank, and the possibility that Matt Hardy might still be a question mark for Mania, and I say Rey gets the nod. Lots of ways for this to go after Armageddon, not to mention the fact that Matt probably won't be back until at least February.
Khali/Finlay: One thing I can garuntee is that you will NOT see a Hogan Mania appearance. Apparantly he is so bent on spiting Vince that he's raising money to form his own fed, and the Raw appearance was a one-off deal. As for the whole Finlay/Khali/Hornswoggle thing, there's always the possibility that they'll try to stretch the fued out through Mania and try to revisit the whole King Kong Bundy thing, or they might come to their senses and put Finlay in a real fued. Either way, I'm going with Khali in a snoozefest.
Beth/Mickie: One of the best Women's matchups in recent memory. As much as I love Mickie and would like to see a prolonged fued between her and Beth, WWE seems bent on giving the Title to the go-go dancer. I remember the last time someone as talented as Mickie was in the Women's Title picture. What was her name, was it, Oh yeah, Victoria. And she fueded with, hold on it's coming to me, Trish Stratus. Now it's all coming back. That's when they brought in the Diva Search, all the talented "Divas" got promoted and all the real Divas got pushed. Mickie had her 15 minutes in WWE, she's done until someone who treats the Women's Division with respect starts booking. I'm going with Beth as a placeholder. Great match, non-PPV worthy dirty finish.
CM Punk & Kane/BDV & Mark Henry: If this doesn't get Linda laid that night, nothing will. "Oh Vis, oh Mark," "Who?" "Uh, I mean, OOOOHH LINDA!!!"
That's gonna get me some heat. Oh well, life moves on. Kane and Punk because they're going to push Punk. Punk gets beat on most of the match, Kane interjects himself frequently, Kane does his flurry when he gets tagged in, BDV and Henry supress him, Kane makes the tag, Punk does his flurry, double finishers, done.
Alright, here's my theory. We have 3 matches, one Title match, one #1 contender match, and one match that is said to have Title implications. The only reason my theory would not work is if they're scared about putting on too big a show so close to Mania, which is a big possibility seeing as how there are never any big matches at the Rumble. That being said, I'm going to go way out on a limb and predict a RR Elimination Chamber. Neither the Title match nor the HBK match will end cleanly, someone from each match will interject themselves in the other. I see Orton leveling HBK with the RKO early in the night leading to Kennedy winning, and possibly a post-match assault. HBK is wheeled out of the arena and taken to a hospital. He makes a suprise appearance at the end of the night and hits Orton with Sweet Chin Music in front of the ref, DQing Jericho. Everyone shows up next week on Raw complaining, sets up EC qualifiers with Flair, Umaga, Carlito, and a returning Lashley. The Triple H/Jeff Hardy match I see ending cleanly, with Trips coming out on top after a prolonged match and vouching for Hardy's toughness the next night on Raw.
As for the Smackdown Title, I see it being a Raw Rumble this year. I think the claim of a Triple H/Batista Mania is bogus, although an Evolution triple threat or fatal four-way seems plausible. At any rate, I see Taker chasing rather than winning early on. I think WWE started to get the message with Batista after his last Mania match turned out to be such a stinker. If he's going to Raw, or if he's not, I still see Edge coming out on top, possibly with T'Lo making a heel turn, but most definitely with Vickie's assitance. Also, I'm raising the possibility of seeing some Chavito Heat involved with the finish. Definitely not a clean finish, but a very intriging one.
From bpapa on 12/14/07 1:59 PM
Hogan's plans to do his own tour pretty much fell apart once his match against Big Show in Memphis wound up not drawing well. Hogan's going to need the money for both Nick's legal woes and his own divorce - plus there's always American Gladiators promotion. There's no way he's sitting out 'Mania.
From theone86 on 12/14/07 2:18 PM
The American Gladiators thing might warrant an appearance, but I seriously don't see him doing anything more than a speech to hype the show. He's deadset against working with Vince again. Besides, he has other means of income. Marketing, American Gladiators. I'm going to stick with the Khali/Hogan match being bogus. I could be wrong, but that's what I'm saying.
From bpapa on 12/14/07 3:11 PM
But he just worked for Vince the other day?
From gooniesnvrsaydie on 12/15/07 12:02 AM
usually i watch RAW, so i havent had a chance to see Undertaker recently. Has he been declining, becuase i always thought he was a strong wrestler, but everyone says that Edge (and some say Batista) will win. Why the doubt in Taker?
From theone86 on 12/15/07 2:06 AM
There were quite a few wrestlers that worked the anniversary show who aren't too keen on coming back full-time.
Also, I take back what I said about a T'Lo heel turn. I was under the impression that he took back the GM position when he returned. I had no idea that they just made him assistant GM.
From Adampro123 on 12/15/07 3:59 AM
Yeah i think my picks are better lol.
