Your Fantasy Draft Picks
by cptcharisma1157 on 6/22/08 2:07 PM
In regards to the draft it's no secret that Smackdown needs the major talent. Here's what I'd do if I were running the show.
From Raw to Smackdown:
1) John Cena: As much I hate to say it, Cena moving to Smackdown would be good for SD's ratings. Cena's primary audience consists of younger kids, ones who don't have plans on Fridays, and ones who only stay up until about 10:00. I think there are a lot of people who have stopped watching Raw because they hate Cena (I change the channel when it's done) and I think that audience will come back if he goes away.
2) Chris Jericho: Smackdown definitley needs the edge from the draft, and Jericho is a current-midcarder with world champ potential. Smackdown would get the Intercontinental title. And a feud between Jericho and MVP would be great.
3) Randy Orton or Shawn Michaels: Neither of has world title in their near future on RAW. Orton got beaten, injured, and will be pushed to the back of the line on Raw, and Michaels is content with making young guys look good, so either of them would be good moves to SD.
From ECW to Smackdown:
1) Chavo Guerrero: He's solidified his status as a legitimite world title contender. Plus he could feud with Jericho/Hardy for the IC/US title. I know he's on Smackdown all the time right now, but if he stays on ECW he won't be involved with SD once RAW and ECW join up.
2) Boogeyman: I think he appeals more to the younger audience of SD and he has done nothing on ECW.
3) Tazz: Michael Cole sucks. The only person Cole can team with, to make a decent commentary team is Tazz. (Foley I think should then Opt to go to ECW and work with Adamle, or they could have a three man announce team on SD, and Bring Josh Matthews or Todd Grisham up to ECW.)
From Smackdown to ECW:
1) Rey Mysterio: This would be a big move for ECW. They'd get a solid world title competitor. Plus Rey-Rey was in the old ECW and fits that mentality of wrestling.
2) Kenny Dykstra: He needs a new start.
3) Chuck Palumbo: He's not impressing anyone on Smackdown.
From Raw to ECW
1) Jeff Hardy: Here's a great match for Rey Mysterio, and to my knowledge they've never wrestled eachother. This would be huge for ECW's ratings, and wouldn't even be a big move for Hardy as he could still wrestle on Raw.
2) Umaga or Lance Cade: There's nothing either of them could really do on RAW. Umaga needs new guys to push around, and if they want Cade to get a push he should start by knocking around some of the smalleer ECW guys.
3) London and/or Kendrick: They can challenge for Morrison's and Miz's titles. That could be a great feud.
From Smackdown to Raw:
1) Batista: They can't just keep giving Batista random title shots on Smackdown and pretend that their justified. It doesn't make sense, and that will become more and more evident as time goes by. If he goes to Raw he can walk right in and tell Trip "Hey, I've beaten you thrice before, and I'll do it again." There's a # 1 contender push off the bat, and it actually makes sence.
2) Matt Hardy: This decision is mostly based on my wanting to send Jericho to Smackdown. I think both shows still need a secondary title, but the Intercontinental Title and Chris Jericho would give Smackdown a big edge over Raw's Matt Hardy and the US Title. Plus, then we can see the Hardy's feud as they each try to reach World Title status before their brother.
3) Duece: It looks like their breaking up, and Raw's starting the second-generation stable, so it makes sence. And honestly, I think the WWE is tricking people into thinking Dibiase's partner is Smith. I think it could be Duece. Then they could have DH challenge the IC champ (or US if I get my wish). That would give this stable a lot of talent and credibility.
** If they don't move Mickie James to SD, then they should move Natalia to Raw. She can come in and manage the stable plus win the Women's title, giving that stable even more momentum.
*** And this will never happen, but I think Carlito deserves a world title push. And if they really wanted to make that stable a force to be reckoned with, Carlito would be a great leader.
From ECW to RAW
1) Elijah Burke: He's doing nothing on ECW he's wasted talent. He should fight for either the IC or US title.
2) John Morrison: With ECW and Raw joining, he can still defend his tag titles with Miz on ECW, but he'll have better oppertunities for himself on RAW. Plus, if they want to break them up any time soon, the draft is the way to do it.
3) Bam Nealy: He's boring as Chavo's bodyguard- he should be made into a wrestler in his own rights.
** With ECW and RAW joining Kane should become more of a Raw superstar and less of an ECW one. He should lose the ECW title to Big Show (or someone else) and then start challenging for the WWE title.
***CM Punk should stay where he is. He's got the briefcase and can use that to move him to RAW or SD, for now they should put him on the backburner.
-- That's what I'd do, how bout you?

Here are the guys that I would switch up. I'm just going to list those that would be seen as a big deal on TV tonight, so I'm not going to include any of the rarely used lower card guys. I wouldn't be shocked if there was another supplementary draft after the show:
JBL - According to Dave Meltzer JBL wants this move, and as somebody with a lot of pull he'll probably get it. JBL's comeback has been rather disappointing, so he might be a better fit over on Smackdown.
Cryme Tyme - One of RAW's most over acts, but never really get much time to do anything. A feud with Miz and Morrison on Smackdown could be great.
Ashley - To ECW. She doesn't wrestle, well, at least not very well, so switch her to the brand without a woman's title. The trick here is that Ashley moving will seem like a big deal even though she sucks.
Umaga - To me, one of the clearest choices. On Smackdown he could feud with the Undertaker, and on ECW he could be their champion. Either one would be fine.
Miz and Morrison - I'd love to see these guys on RAW, and it makes sense as they are the best tag team that the WWE has seen in YEARS. However, on Smackdown they would get more spotlight. Keep in mind that these two are supposed to be ECW talents and I'm assuming that when ECW switches to being taped with RAW, Miz and Morrison will need to be on SD to keep the titles.
Deuce - Not really a big deal at all, so he doesn't fit here, but after last week's break-up I fully expect Deuce to come out on RAW tonight as Jimmy Snuka Jr. and join up with the rumored Ted DiBiase 2nd generation stable.
MVP - To RAW. Last year it was Mr. Kennedy, the previous year it was Carlito. Each draft, a rising Smackdown heel gets a shot to break through on RAW. It's hard to argue that neither Carlito or Kennedy lived up to expectations, but something tells me that MVP will.
CM Punk - It's time for Punk to graduate. Sure, he's in the dog house, but WWE knows he's marketable and he's got that MITB briefcase. I'm not sure if the move should be to RAW or Smackdown, but I could see him having more success on the blue brand.
I will say that this draft might seem a little disappointing if one of the upper most tier of guys doesn't move. That tier being Triple H, John Cena, Jeff Hardy, Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton, Edge, Batista, and Rey Mysterio (not including the Undertaker since he's "fired"). In a way, I agree - it doesn't make much sense for the top of the card to remain so stagnant. If I were to pick one of those guys to move, it'd be HBK. Actually, it'd be HHH, but since they can (and should) just turn him heel and feud with John Cena and Jeff Hardy it will keep some freshness at the top of the card.

Also here's my responses on why I don't think the guys listed above would move:
Cena - Love him, hate him, he's WWE's top guy and it makes no sense for him to not be on WWE's top show. Smackdown will need help when it changes networks, but I can't see Vince putting their flagship talent on their "B" brand.
Jericho - I would have said yes before, but with his recent heel turn they at least have some new stuff they could do with him. Ditto for his apparent new running buddy Lance Cade.
Michelle McCool - In reality, she's Undertaker's girlfriend. She's not going anywhere.
John Morrison - WWE wouldn't be stupid enough to break up Miz and Morrison. At least, I don't think they would be...
