Why does everbody hate Cody Rhodes so much?
by Strikerd6 on 3/19/08 3:04 PM
I really want to hear why. Cody Rhodes is not as bad everybody seems to think he is. Yes he does have a lot of rough spots but remember he is really just starting out especially because his dad wants him to be famous like himself. With a proper trainer and if he opened up more on the mic and developed a personality and if he found a new finisher he wouldn't seem so new to the business.

I like Cody a lot, I just think he was probably rushed up to the main roster. On the other hand though he'll probably get better faster and learn more quicker by being on the main roster.

I agree he was rushed into the roster pretty quickly but you can blame Dusty Rhodes for that. I hope he learns and develops a style and moveset of his own that doesn't consist of basic wrestling moves like the small package, elbow drop, and DDT.

hes a mid level card superstar when he shouldn't even be on the roster or holding the tag championship hes just another one of those superstars that uses 3 moves to win a match
From 92tombstone92 on 3/19/08 7:16 PM
and his 3 moves aren't even affective a bulldog, ddt, and a dropkick

I say we shouldn't even be passing any judgement on him at this time. He hasn't fully developed yet, and he's got a LOT of potential to be an amazing contributor to the roster. He just needs more time and maybe a good storyline to send him in a preferable direction as a WWE Superstar.

I haven't seen any of his matches, so I can't exactly comment. I do agree that he was rushed. Maybe he'd be wrestling a better style if they gave him time to develop.

This mentality really doesn't work here. It only works if you've got pacing, selling, and working down. If you're a good worker and you just need someone to pull you through some longer matches, fine, but if you didn't take the time to get psychology down when you were training, then why would anything change once you're in active competition? The fact is that in WWE the only time people change is when people tell them to, and people only tell them to if they're getting REALLY dismal reactions. Most time either a decent reaction or being the son of someone important in the industry is enough for people to keep booking you and telling you to push through it. That's part of what I dislike about WWE, is that they throw people in the ring as fast as they can, and then people like me get pissed off because these people can't wrestle, but they're still winning gold either because someone likes them or because marks mark out for them.

Of course it does. Training in OVW (now FCW) is only going to do so much, and personally I think I'd rather have on the job training working with guys on the main roster. Cody's only been around a short while, but after Orton, Cena, and Batista had put in a similar amount of time, they were working with guys like Angle, Jericho, Foley, etc. Cody will learn so much more when he starts getting in there with guys like HHH, HBK, Cena, Finlay, etc. Much more then he would have learned with Skinner.

OK, Orton, Cena, and Batista? I know you're higher on these guys than I am, but you're not neccessarliy building a star case with that lineup. In fact, Orton aside, Batista and Cena are two people I had directly in mind when I was writing about what I disliked about WWE. My point is that wrestling on the main roster does not automatically make you into a skilled wrestler. That's such a common misconception. It takes not only an effort on your part, but a concious realization of what people are talking about when they say working a good match or having psychology. Yes, training in OVW is only going to go so far, but most people take away the same amount of things from training. What seperates them is thier individual outlook on the business. If your outlook starts out as, "I'm just going to go out, wrestle the same match, and hope that I can either think of an awesome finisher or cut a wicked cool promo," How is working with a veteran going to change that? By the time you get to the main roster you're going to have heard these things so much that if they haven't sunken in already they're probably not going to. Veterans aren't there to baby you along. If you're just not getting something they're not going to sit there and hold your hand. If you're a promising wrestler they will elevate your career and help you take your game to the next level, but if all you do is sit around and expect them to help you, you're in for a big suprise.
