Why Jeff Hardy is not the WWE or World Heavyweight champ
by smekal on 2/23/08 9:54 PM
We know Jeff is a top superstar in the WWE, but why is he not the WWE champ or World Heavyweight champ by now. Jeff has always been a top talent in WWF, TNA, and WWE. He has held World Tag Team title; Intercontinental title; Hardcore title; European title; Light Heavyweight title; WCW Tag Team title. In most peoples eyes he has never held a major (Major being WWE, World Heavyweight, NWA World Heavyweight title, WCW World Heavyweight, or television titles.) He is most known for tag team with brother Matt Hardy.
He left WWE April 22, 2003. He then joined TNA June 23, 2004. He had numerous NWA World Heavyweight title matches and one TNA X Division title matches which he all lost. He rejoined WWE August 4, 2006. He soon assailed as a singles competitor. Jeff would go on a roll and defeat top WWE superstars (HHH, Umaga, and Misterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Kennedy Kennedy.) He got a WWE title opportunity at the Royal Rumble and lost. He then was in the last two in the elimination chamber and lost to HHH who he had beaten before.
Jeff Hardy probably could easily be a WWE or World Heavyweight champ in the ring. It?s not the fact that he does not connect with the fans; he is a fan favorite. It is just the fact that Jeff has not shown much mic skills, and they want a champ who is a great wrestler and great on the mic. That is why superstars like Hogan, Stone Cold, and The Rock have held the title more than twice; because their great in the ring and on the mic. The WWE wants someone who came work the mic not just one who says four or five sentences and leaves, but someone who can run his mouth all night. I think if Jeff works on his mic skills he would become WWE or World Heavyweight title.

Jeff needs more charisma and needs to improve on his mic skills immensely and change his style. RVD had personality and wasn't a spot-monkey, yet WWE never pushed him.
From jeff on 2/23/08 10:42 PM
They did push RVD he was WWE champion and ECW champion back in 2006. Sure it wasn't a long title reign, but he was WWE champion. As for Jeff Hardy I do agree that he needs to work on his mic skills alot.
From JamesP on 2/23/08 11:08 PM
Do you honestly think they were planning on giving him a long title reign? The only reason they gave him the win was to promote the new ECW.

i honestly think that their plan was to give van dam a long run, they just had to get the belt off of him for the drug incident... and i think both hardys are as worthy as rvd to hold the title, even if it is only for a couple months.
to me matt and jeff are very comparable to edge and christian, and they are both world title contenders now.

didyou just say Hogan was great in the ring ??????? hahahahahhaahahhahahahahha
oh man great laugh.
oh and good blog besides that one part.

I like both RVD and Jeff Hardy, neither are in my 'favourites' but I do enjoy both of their matches, but I think to refer to one and not the other as having personality and not being a spot-monkey is unfair.
If one of them is referred to as a spot monkey, then the other should as well, as both of them rely on their big moves to get through the matches rather thann story-telling. Both have a habit of selling a move for ten seconds, then jumping up to the top rope for a flip or dive.
And neither of them are particularly comfortable with a microphone in their hands, yet can both connect with the audience, RVD is by pointing at himself and Jeff is with the Hardy Boyz hand gesture or spazzy dance.

I agree with smekal on Hardy. He's exciting when he enters the ring and in the ring but get him on the mic and he's soooo boring. I hope Jeff gets a run with a World title one of these days even if it's just for one night. Unless he improves his mic work, he won't be in the title picture for the long term.
From Impact on 2/24/08 6:00 PM
Some of you guys... honestly, are dumb as hell. I'm sorry to say.
Anyway, Jeff Hardy IS going to be a world champion in 2008. I'm willing to put money on that. I know how this industry works, and his time has arrived.
He's being pushed similarly to Edge and Christian, who someone up above mentioned already. Edge and Christian were NEVER good on the mic before they got major pushes and had the OPPORTUNITY to IMPROVE.
Jeff's mic skills have improved IMMENSLEY. Do you all not remember when he was taggin with Matt in his first WWE run that he NEVER spoke? Give the guy a break, not EVERYONE is a Rock or Steve Austin. And in my opinion, that's good.
Why do you all want someone to b.s. on the mic ALL NIGHT LONG? That's the BIGGEST reason I can't STAND people like the Rock, or Austin, or Triple H. I'm not watching wrestling to watch someone yammer on about how they're going to do this and that. I want to SEE them do this or that. I'd rather have someone say one or two things and then show me some action rather than say five million words and then lose the match.
From DaneBramage on 2/24/08 6:25 PM
Impact, I agree exactly with your last paragraph. While a good promo is always appreciated, the fifteen minute long promos that come from the wrestlers you named always made me change the channel.
I hope Jeff gets his chance as champion this year, he's not a wrestler who needs to speak much, his matches and high-flying have always done his talking for him.
I do disagree with your comments on Edge and Chritian though (depending of course on what you consider their major pushes to be). I always thought they were good when they did their promos together as a tag-team, not just after they split and got pushed to the upper-card (Christian in particular was better earlier than Edge in my opinion).
From JamesP on 2/24/08 6:50 PM
If Jeff Hardy wins, I'll boycott WWE.
From smekal on 2/24/08 9:08 PM
So everyone knows i think Jeff sould be WWE champ not Ortan. I'm just giving the reason why company has not givin him the title yet.

Could we stop with the single sentence posts that go on for half a page? Seriously, I'm not a huge stickler for grammer, but reading this stuff is nothing short of painful.

who cares, JamesP?

If you're going to be picky, then that should really be grammar rather than grammer.

I too said I hope Jeff gets a run with the title. My opinion is his sub par mic work will not let him stay there long term.
Also RAW is largely about the promos. You're not going to see great matches on free TV all that often. They save those for the PPVs. RAW is a vehicle to advance storylines toward PPVs and that requires the ability to cut a promo.
