Who thinks Regal should get a push?
by Flamingo on 1/9/08 4:12 PM
William Regal is an awesome technical wrestler and should be booked in good matches. But no, he has to wrestle HHH and Hornswoggle in his suit and then of course lose to the invincible HHH in a fisrt blood match. He should get a push. What are some of your thoughts?

WWE is an entertainment-based company, and because of that Regal will always find himself booked in these comedic roles.
However, that doesn't mean he won't get a main event push someday. It's been a very long time though since WWE has tried to push him as a serious singles competitor. The last time I can remember is the long feud he had with Edge several years ago.

I agree, I think Regal is probably the most underutilised star on the roster. After the handicap match with Coach against Triple H a few weeks back I was hoping that was leading to a Regal-Trips match, but then by the sounds of it he just got defeated fairly easily on Raw rather than in a competitive battle.
It's a shame since he has so much talent but the British style of wrestling doesn't really go over so well with the WWE demographic and audience. The only way I can really see him getting a big push is if WWE decide to give a DH Smith a big run, and have Regal either tag along with him or fight against him, or maybe use him to introduce someone like Claudio Castagnoli or Nigel McGuinness, who I could easily see them deciding to pick up during the year.
On the plus side, Regal does fit into the comedic authority roles well. In his autobiography he says he picked up his character traits and mannerisms from old British comedians. He works best when he has a comedy sidekick like Tajiri or Eugene.

I've been saying for years that Val Venis and William Regal are the most underrated wrestlers in the world.... Remember when Val Venis first came in, how popular he got so fast?!! And Regal is just a phenominal in-ring competitor, and backstage personality. I think they both deserve big pushes, maybe even of World Title caliber..especially since they've got three world titles circulating. For that matter, Chavo should get the ECW title, that's not even really a world title and Chavo has put so much into wrestling.
Anyway, back to Regal, he is finally getting a decent push but it's not a wrestling push. I like him as the GM, he's always played that part well. What he should do though is award himself the IC title or something, or at least cheat to win it.

i agree COMPLETELY with Val Venis. Even though i love Triple H, when the WWE sent the poll out for who should face Orton at No Mercy, i voted for Venis. I cant wait for the day that Venis comes back to RAW and challenges for a title.

What is wrong with you people??!! Regal does not deserve a push, Cody Rhodes does! I said it once and I'll say it again, the WWE is wasting young Cody's talent. If anything, Cody should be the General Manager of RAW and getting to face Triple H. Hell, he should beat Triple H. Regal is old and fat and has no business being in a wrestling ring. What is he like 50 years old??? He and Val Venis need to retire from wrestling because they are has beens who have done nothing in their careers and pave the way for much more talented guys like Cody Rhodes and The Boogeyman.

I'm going to say something to all people who want to comment on my blog. Do not acknowledge hornswogglemarks comment. My blog is for people who know about wrestling. This hornswogglemark dipshit is just trying to piss people off, so just ignore everything this idiot says.

I think Regal is past his prime...if they decide to give him a push, so be it, but i could care less about Regal--Venis should DEFINITLY get a push, as he has been on Heat duty for far too long.

Are you kidding me, Regal is not past his prime, I'm sure if they let him he'd be an awesome wrestler ans I know he is just looking at his past matches in WCW and WWE.
