nWo vs. The Four Horsemen
Posted on 4/3/08 8:11 AM
Give me your opinion as to who would win this matchup.
The Four Horsemen's original members were: Tully Blanchard, JJ Dillion, Arn Anderson, Barry Windham, and Ric Flair. The Four Horsemen later featured Dean Malenko, Chris Benoit, and Steve McMichael as part of their ranks.
The nWo included (at different points in time): Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Big Show, Shawn Michaels, X-Pac, Booker T, and Eric Bischoff (I know, Bischoff wasn't a wrestler, but he was pretty much the ringleader of the nWo).
If you were to put these two powerhouse stables up against one another, who would win? -
The Brothers Of Destruction
Posted on 4/2/08 8:08 AM
Ok, I want some feedback on this one. All opinions welcome.
Whether as a tag team or in singles matches, both Kane and The Undertaker have dominated the WWE for years. After their breakup as a tag team, I personally never thought I would see them both hold major titles at the same time again.
Wrestlemania 24 changed all of that.
With Kane wasting Chavo in 8 seconds, he became the new ECW Champion. I think this is the boost that ECW needs to regain some status in the sprots entertainment world. Forget the fad champions like John Morrison and CM punk. ECW is EXTREME Championship Wrestling. Kane has proven himself as one of the best big men the sprots entertainment business has ever seen. Now, we just have to watch what he does as Champion AND how long his title reign lasts.
The Undertaker is arguably one of the greatest athletes to ever lace 'em up. A multiple-time World Champion, multiple time tag-champion, and now, after WM 24, 16-0 with a World Heavyweight Title around his waist. I don't really need to go into detail about what Taker will do on Smackdown: We all know what he's capable of doing. From Tombstone #1 on Koko B. Ware in 1990 to the violent submission hold that choiked out Edge to win him the tile at WM 24, The Phenom does one thing incredibly well, and better than almost everyone else: Dominates.
This brings me to my point. Kane and The Undertaker now simultaniously hold World Championship titles. I mentioned fad champions before: John Cena, Edge, CM Punk, John Morrison, Bobby Lashley, and all the other chamions who are capable of holding a title but don't deserve to while there are superstars with more talent and a larger fan base remaining titleless. Kane and The Undertaker are constant fan favorites. Who doesn't love to see two 7 foot, 300 pound men chokeslaming, booting, and tombstoning their way through everyone in their path?
The fact is that Wrestlemaina 24 has produced two incredibly apt superstars holding major titles. Smackdown and ECW now have title holders that people will fill arenas for and viewers will tune in to see.
I also have a prediction: Smackdown and ECW have the "talent exchange program" in effect right now. Who's to say you won't see the World Heavyweight Champion and the ECW Champion team up to ensure the other keeps his respective title? Yes the two have fueded in the past, but they have also been a very powerful tag team. Even recently, they have been teaming up for several matches. These kayfabe brothers could literally take over the WWE if given the right amount of push.
The basic point i've been trying to get at is that its nice to see superstars who deserve the title, are able to retain the title believably, and have a passion for the business (Kane and Take are both in double-digit years competeing) hold the titles they deserve.
I don't think that either one will disappoint the fans, and I'm sure that WWE has reached a high point in recent years with the dual title victories for The Brothers Of Destruction. -
Charisma Creates Cash
Posted on 2/12/08 8:03 PM
Back in the WCW days, Bischoff used Controversy to create cash. But Bischoff didn't use what McMahon used: Charismatic wrestlers.
Sure, you had Hogan, the nWo, Booker, and a few others. But look at what raked in the dough: The Rock, Stone Cold, HHH, HBK, Undertaker, and Flair.
I personally think that if you have a charismatic superstar (like Jeff hardy, Rey Mysterio, and Y2J today) that more people will tune in to watch than just to see your typical backstabbing or betrayal.

WCW vs. WWF
Posted on 2/12/08 2:43 PM
Comment this please guys. After reading some comments on different blogs over the past few months (especially recently), I've found that many people refer back to WCW or WWF to prove point as to ho is like who, who is good and bad, etc.
It seems that everyone is spli down the middle, either supporting WCW or WWF. Its almost like the ratings war is starting up again without the shows even existing anymore.
So, which did YOU like better? Were you a WCW maniac, supporting Sting, Goldberg, and Hogan, or were you a follower of WWF, rooting for The Rock, Austin, and Triple H?
Which is your show: WCW or WWF? -
The Greatest High Flyers Ever
Posted on 2/10/08 5:54 PM
Who are the greatest acrobats to grace a wrestling ring? There have only been a select few to grace the ring time and time again with incredible feats that not only turn heads but get the adrenaline flowing.
Some of the best I can think of are/were (in no real order):
-Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka
-Rey Mysterio
-Jeff Hardy
-Sabu
-AJ Styles
-Rob Van Dam
Any to add? I know I'm missing quite a few names, but I want to have a discussion not a straight up list-like blog.
