FANTASY...WHO CARES
Posted on 5/27/08 5:49 PM
I feel this needs to be said. I will try to be as openly respectful as possible.
Over the past few months, quite a few blogs keep popping up about how some people put themselves in as superstars and give a play by play of what they would do in the match, etc. The same thing has happened with booking and being a general manager. Now, I wouldn't bring this up if it happened maybe once or twice. But now I see not only
weekly, but on some occassions DAILY.
I believe this is a site for interactive blogging where you post a TOPIC, not a story, and have people express they're opinions on the wrestling world today. Saying what you and Kofi Kingston are going to do every week in fantasyland is not very interactive in my opinion, or even interesting for that matter. I'm pretty sure no one else cares what happens, either. That aside, I see a few interesting blogs here or there, but I remember when this site used to be full of blogs like "John Cena: Why Boo Him?" and "Kurt Angle: The Best Ever" and even "Is TNA Better Than WWE?" Now, all I see is "Who is your favorite superhero in wrestling?", "Jamaican Paradise", "Fantasy GM", and other childish blogs.
I don't know. Maybe it's because I'm 28 and don't have a "Let's Pretend" side anymore. I just think that the fantasy blogs and childish topics have to stop.
Please tell me someone out there agrees with me. -
Olympics of Wrestling?
Posted on 5/13/08 8:11 AM
I was watching RAW last night and was somehow drawn into the John Cena / William Regal argument. I was actually stricken with a great sense of patriotism when Cena defended the honor of the United States against Regal playing "God Save The Queen" as the show began.
Of course, we all know the national anthem was played prior to the broadcast, but it still made for a good storyline. It was good to hear some USA chants echo through an arena again.
Then, it hit me. With all the nationalities of superstars in the WWE, why not have a tournament for the honor of the superstars' home countries?
Think about it for a minute. Some examples could be:
Cena - USA
Santino - Italy
Carlito - The Caribbean
Regal - England
Khali - India
Kofi Kingston - Jamaica
Mysterio - Mexico (despite his roots in San Diego)
Jericho or Edge - Canada
Umaga - Samoa
And finally, play the "parts unknown" card and have the final entrant be:
Kane - Parts Unknown (as they used to at the beginning of his career)
You could have the 10 superstars face off in tournament fashion, and then have the winners square off in a 5-man elimination style (pinfall or tapout) battle royal. The last three will get title shots (or some other random honor).

Mike Adamale

What do you all think of Mike Adamale as ECW's new commentator?
Obviously, he's no Jim Ross or Jerry Lawler, and he doesn't bring the fire that Joey Styles brought to ECW for years.
Personally, I think Adamale is a halfway decent announcer. Sure, his commentating is so-so right now, but he wasn't horrible in his previous announcing positions. I think he'll do fine once he gets a good grip on the way WWE in announced as opposed to other sports. -
Main Events

After watching the KOTR last night, I was thouroughly disappointed. I knew there was an 8-man tag match to finish the show off, but I didn't think to much of it, considering WWE main events ahve been less than stellar as of late (HHH vs. JBL w/ Orton interfering, etc.)
Then, after the match was over, I found myself saying "Wow, why aren't there more mathces like this?" Taker/Kane/HHH/Cena vs. Chavo/Edge/Orton/JBL sounded good on paper, but I never thought it would go as well as it did.
Yeah, the heel wrestlers won (Edge with the pin on Kane), but it was a competitive match, with an explosive ending, where all hell broke loose, capped off by Undertaker's double chokeslam on Orton and JBL.
Why can't RAW, Smackdown, and ECW have more matches with this kind of drama? These are the types of matches fans wan't to see! -
WWE Championship
Posted on 4/21/08 7:27 PM
With many superstars on RAW being adequate enough to hold a title, questions comes up about #1 Contenders and such.
So, who should be the WWE Champion? Who should get a push? Who should be bumped down the ladder a few steps? Who should be the next #1 Contender?
In my personal opinion, I think Jeff Hardy should be the WWE Champion (when he returns of course), with JBL taking a permenant backseat, and CM Punk (IF he cashes in Money In The Bank on RAW) or Big Show to be the #1 Contender.
Thoughts? Ideas? Let's hear 'em!
