Ring of Honor MVPs of 2007
by styles4671 on 9/15/07 9:28 PM
Now 2007 has been a historic year for Ring of Honor. Two ***** matches ( Bryan Danielson vs Takeshi Morishima 8/25 MCMG vs Briscoes 4/28 ) in my mind and maybe three after I see Driven. Maybe there best show ( Good Times Great Memories 4/28 ) and their first PPV deal. Now who are my MVPs? Well there have been a number of people who have had **** + matches this year and I will tell you who I think the top guy is. Here is my top 5:
5. Rocky Romero: He has had plenty of ***+ star matches and one great **** match at ROH Respect is Earned against Marufuji. Rocky Romero gets #5
4. Nigel Mcguinness: Has had two **** 1/2 matches both against Morishima. A very good *** 1/2 match at Respect is Earned. Maybe match of the year against Brayn Danielson. Nigel gets #4.
3. Briscoes: Speaking about match of the year the Briscoes have 3 matches in my top 10 matches of the year list. A awesome high flying match in NOAH against Marvin and Suzuki. Another awesome high flying match and a show stealer at Respect is Earned. They even have a ***** match agaisnt MCMG. The Briscoes have had a great year and get #3
2. Bryan Danielson: He missed the beginning of the year with an injury but ever since his return he has had great match after great match! He comes back and has a great tag match at Respect is Earned. Then an awesome **** 1/2 agaisnt KENTA at the Driven tapings ( won't be on PPV but will be on DVD ) after that he has another **** 1/2 agaisnt Go Shiozaki. Then a ***** MOTYC agaisnt Morishima. Like I said for Nigel he probally has another **** 1/2+ match. So Danielson gets #2
1. Takeshi Morishima: WOW!! What a year! 3 **** 1/2 matches agaisnt Nigel Mcguinness twice and Samoa Joe. A ***** classic agaisnt Danielson. He is probally the most dominant champ since Joe. A **** agiasnt SHINGO. Numerous ***+ matches. Takeshi Morishima is ROH's MVP of 2007 ( so far )
I hope you enjoyed my first blog. I plan on doing more just hopefully not as long. Here are some Music Vids and matches of these people:

Still a few months left in the year, but if trends continue I'll split the ROH MVP award amongst the Briscoes. ROH has been able to take Jay and Mark and do something that WWE has not come close to doing since the TLC days, and that's make a Tag Team a main attraction of their show.
The Briscoes have main evented a ton of shows, a sick feud with Steen and Generico, and have had great matches with other teams (for example, as you mention, Motor City Machine Guns) left and right.
If I'm going to rank them I'd probably go:
1 - Briscoes
2 - Morishima
3 - Nigel McGuinness
4 - Bryan Danielson (if he stays healthy, will be higher by year's end. He's only 4 b/c he's missed so much time)
5 - Open. Somebody could step up! Austin Aries is probably better than everybody else, but hasn't had much of a focus. Chris Hero is one of the best heels they have but hasn't had that company carrying role. Even guys like Steen and Generico could be considered. I don't see Romero in the same light that you do, but there still are a few months left in 07, anything can happen.
