Subtle Change and Adjustments that have to be made..maybe.
Posted on 3/1/08 6:21 PM
If you have ever posted a blog you know the satisfaction that is derived after it is done and posted on that specific site that you post on and the feedback comes rolling in. Good, bad, positive and negative; truly it matters not. What does matter is, as it was so eloquently put by one Floyd Mayweather Jr. "I love PLUBLICITY". Yes I spelled PUBLICITY incorrectly(which brought me some heat in my last blog)which I did ,due to the fact that Floyd ever so articulately pronounced it last week at the "press conference". Then he proceeded to make it rain, or I guess thats' what the kids call it anyway. So is this what it amounts to now? Hey I have an idea, why doesn't the WWE just bring in Kimbo Slice since he is such a "great fighter". By great fighter I mean if he is fighting someone who is fat or drunk, or in Tank Abbott's case; both. Point is why don't they just trim the fat metaphorically speaking to make watching one of the two hour shows actually palatable again.
Let's start with the title situation, which bothers me the most. Jeff Hardy has had the I.C. Title for quite some time now and how many title defenses has he actually had? If he is in the running for a WWE Title push why not drop the I.C. title to another deserving up and comer to help put them over. Look at what the brief title reign did in the case of Santino Marella for instance. He might not be that great of a wrestler yet, but what he lacks in wrestling talent he makes up for in microphone skill. He is a great fit for the annoying Italian character he plays.
Secondly the World tag-team title and the WWE tag-team titles....umm...what? Why don't we just have the World Tag Team Championships again? Holly and Rhodes are a good pairing for the belts in my opinion. The crafty, tough veteran and the young blue-chip son of a wrestler with the titles is good for me. It is just that over on the Smackdown and ECW side of the dial here are The Miz and John Morrison parading around with the...WWE Tag Team Championships? What the deuce is that supposed to mean, so who are the....will the real tag team champs please stand up? The WWE has turned its' collective back on the development of top caliber tag teams in the last couple years in my estimation and it is really sad. Considering all of the great tag team wrestling that has taken place in the squared circle through the years this is a shame to say the least. But they have to be able to give a little more than two William Wallace wanna- bees,
a triad that consists of Olivia Newton John, John Travolta and Jeff Conway from Grease and a bumpkin with his retarded friend Lenny from "Of Mice and Men". After the L.O.D., the Hart Foundation, The Steiner Brothers, The Fabulous Free Birds this what were stuck with?
The so called "divas" are another pet peeve of mine as well. Especially to those of you who know me from my youtube account realize that it is well documented that I hate the WWE for turning the women back into a side show again. Divas who can wrestle they have Beth, Victoria, Jillian, Melina,Mickie and Katie Lea(although they haven't had her do anything yet). The rest of them are worthless, I've said it many times that if twirling in a circle makes you a great wrestler than Candice "Makenzie Montgomery" Michelle is the greatest to ever set foot in the ring. But since that is not the case why in the blue hell is she even in the title picture? She is EVERYTHING wrong with the WWE right now, the reason that she pisses me off so much is this simple fact: she is the female version of John Cena. I like John Cena for the fact that I think he is entertaining and a decent wrestler. I dislike Candice Michelle because she is annoying, not talented and the only thing funny about her is that fact that when she made her comeback on Raw she looked like Magda from "There's something about Mary". If you dislike Cena because you say these things :"He is a terrible wrestler who uses the same moves every match", then you could say the same things about Candice Michelle; right?
Of course you could, now just admit it. They should put a little bit more emphasis on the wrestling aspect of it like when they had Victoria, Trish, Lita, Molly, Ivory, Gail Kim and Jaqueline. They have the resources to do that now but much like the Cruiserweight Title they choose to ignore it. The big Divas match at Wrestlemania doesn't even have the title at stake. Instead of seeing a showdown between Beth Phoenix, Victoria and Mickie James for the title we get "BunnyMania", great. I can't wait to see the two worst womens wrestlers in the history of the company to get put over on Beth and Melina.
The last thing I will say is that like the Highlander, there can be only one. Get rid of the WWE Title, NOW! It is pretty stupid considering the fact that they once had a unified title, remember? Chris Jericho being the first ever UNIFIED CHAMPION. So how did this come to pass that there are now two belts again? I didn't get the memo across my desk about the Un-unification of the titles. Point is that the World Championship Wrestling Heavyweight Title Belt should be the only main title belt in the WWE. Along with the WWE tag team titles, the WWE title should be thrown away. Take the formats of Raw and Smackdown and intertwine them again to where both Main Events are cycled around the same story line. Those original days before the WWE had a "draft" were a lot more fun. ECW you ask? I would once again make it the true land of extreme, but also as a showcase for the young up and comers. Kind of like in the ECW days of yore when the Mexican wrestlers were first being introduced to the US fans of extreme. I would still use the ECW title and would have an ECW TV Title as well. Belts that could only be held or defended on that show or a pay per view.
These are just a few of the subtle changes I would make if I were in charge. You can hate them, as I am sure a lot of you will leave multiple defamatory "How Could YOUS'" after I post this. But it is truly all good, because I know that means at least those folks took the time and read the words that I have written and well, frankly, "I love PLUBLICITIY!" -
Jon Cena ......Come on, just read it!
Posted on 2/24/08 11:54 AM
I haven't posted a blog in a long time, I have just been going around and making "War and Peace" length comments on which ever blogs that arrouse my ire. But I finally have enough ammo to load up the gun and pull the trigger so here it goes.
I have been a life long fan of Professional Wrestling, not just the in-ring stuff but the sheer pagentry of it all. The sights and sounds, the promos, the storylines; all of it put together. There have been many wrestlers that have come and gone that I have followed throughout their stay in wrestling's limelight. All the way back to the days of the Hulkster to the arrival of the Undertaker in WWE to Scott Hall and the Original Horsemen.
But one individual who remains enigmatic to me is Jon Cena. He is not enigmatic in the traditional sense of the word, but I can't for the life of me figure out why people hate him so much. Could it be that people boo him because they are jealous? Of what you may ask? His looks, his physique(Hell I am man enough to say I am jealous of his build)! Could it be because your wife or girlfriend incessantly makes comments about how hot he is? I know mine does, Cena to her is Beth Phoenix to me! Or could it be that he got a MAMMOTH push that was unlikely for someone as unproven as he?
People let the boos rain down when he used to come to the ring with a microphone and rapped during his whole entrance. I thought it was funny because he was like a stockier Markey Mark at the time! When Lesnar decided to walk out of the WWE and Cena had to pick up the feud with the Big Show(who stayed 1 month longer on 2 bad knees to put Cena over)was to the best of my recollection the start of CenaMania!
My most vivid memory has to be from Wrestlemania 23 which I was lucky enough to attend. The enourmous amount of energy that he and HBK had to expend during that match was incredible. I have NEVER......EEEEEEEEEEEVER heard or felt anything like it. The crowd would cheer Cena one moment and boo him the next. He hit Michaels and the crowd boos, HBK hit Cena and they cheered. Back and forth, back and forth the pendulum swings during the course of a match. When Cena came out on top it was such a cresendo it was deafening! For me the only close second memory of this memory had to be at a Halloween edition of Smackdown that I attended in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It was during the early stages of the Big Show/Cena feud. Cena FU'd Big Show through the announce table.....I was speechless.
You may think that this is a "gush" or "fluff piece" from someone who seems like a "Cena Mark" as I have heard that term thrown around quite frequently on this site and many others. But before you judge me or the merits of my fan-hood, consider the fact that I am just like anyone else who tunes in on a weekly basis. I am a fan first and a critic second. I know that there are much more talented wrestlers on the WWE roster that don't get the respect and the push that they may deserve. I know some people are going to read my work here and rip me for what I have said, but I would be naive' if I didn't expect it.
For me it all boils down to one thing; no it boils down to one word for me: R-E-S-P-C-T. At the risk of sounding a bit cliche' I have the utmost respect for Cena, and not only him but for ALMOST all of the wrestlers who put their bodies on the line some 275 or more days a year. Forsaking their personal lives and their families to entertain US, the fans.
So that is it, I'm done. I made my case and it's how I feel and it isn't going to change. So let the Cena hate fest' 2008 begin! -
Turning Point Result and Reviews 12/2/07
Posted on 12/3/07 12:25 AM
This is gonna take a while so I will get right into it:
1)Tables Match: Team 3D & Johnny Devine vs Motor City Machine Guns & Black Machismo Jay Lethal. Let me break it to you like this, I don't like the angle they are taking with making the mighty Team 3D look like whimsical heels. No this is not the way the former ECW tag champs should look in my opinion. The table spots in the match were incredibly lame, the only bright spot of the match for me was Lethal putting Devine through the table with a cross-ring elbow drop. Result: Team 3D & Devine win by pulling the old switch-a-roo on the ref.
OUT OF 5 STARS: 0 outta 5
2)Roxie LeVeaux & O.D.B. vs Velvet Sky & Angelina Love: The match had funny spots, mostly centered around wedgies, yes that is correct. I just said wedgies; now with that said I will say this: ODB has a nice ass. The action was choppy, not a lot of fluidity to the contest which ended with an Angelina Love over Roxie LeVeaux pinfall. Love & Sky win a comedic match to say the least.
OUT OF 5 STARS: 1 outta 5
3)James Storm vs Showtime Eric Young: Young is a very under rated wrestler who gives his all every time he is in the ring. He and Storm put on a very good match with Young winning by pinfall.
OUT OF 5 STARS: 2 outta 5
4)FEAST OR FIRED MATCH: Senshi,Elix Skipper,Christopher Daniels,Sonjay Dutt,Shark Boy,Lance Hoyt,Jimmy Rave,Petey Williams,Chris Harris,BJ James,Kip James,Scott Steiner,Homicide & Hernendez: In theory having this many good wrestlers battling at once would be great but it is just too hard to watch all the action at once. Scott Steiner held court outside the ring until the end of the match when he came in to the ring. The high spot of the match for me was Petey Williams hitting an over the top rope hurracanranna on Christopher Daniels. The cases were retrieved in this order 1.Petey Williams 2)B.G. James 3)Senshi 4)Scott Steiner What is in these cases will be revealed on Impact this Thursday night.
OUT OT 5 STARS: 2 outta 5
5)TNA Knockout Championship Match, Champion Gail Kim vs. Awesome Kong: The two women battled outside of the ring for a full 4 minutes before the opening bell even rang, Gail Kim hit some awesome aerial spots during the contest(3 missle drop kicks and 1 senton splash)before Kong took control and got disqualified for striking the official. Kong then proceeded to powerbomb the ref, chokeslam Velvet Sky, punch Angelina Love in the face with a steel chair and awesome bomb Gail Kim on steel chair before she left the ring. Result: Gail Kim retains the title by disqualification.
OUT OF 5 STARS: 3 outta 5
6)Black Reign & Rellik vs Abyss & Raven in the 10,000 Tacks Match: Blood-bath style match, Abyss cutting Black Reign,Rellik putting tacks in Raven's mouth then punching him in it,Raven putting Black Reign through a table full of tacks off of the top turnbuckle. The best was the finisher; Abyss black-hole slamming Rellik on a ring full of tacks and scoring the 3 count. Result: Abyss & Raven win
OUT OF 5 STARS: 4 outta 5
7)Booker T & Kaz vs Christian Cage & Robert Roode
Booker T was great during the match, he and Cage can put people over and Booker did it tonight when he had to. Kaz had his usual high flying offense going on. Booker T and Kaz win the match.
OUT OF 5 STARS: 3 outta 5
8)Kurt Angle, A.J. Styles & Tomko vs. Kevin Nash, Samoa Joe & Eric Young: The match started off with Samoa Joe taking over the mic and going off about how the old talent is just there to pad their pensions. He admonished Hall for no-showing the event and said that he asked backstage who wanted to fight and enter Eric Young in his second match of the night. I can't say enough about the work ethic of both Joe and Eric, who both had a great match tonight. Joe had the crowd on his side and made the crowd pop. Nash was largely immobile throughout the match, Angle had him in an ankle lock at one point. Until Joe kicked his teeth out that is. Eric Young hit his finisher on Tomko for the win; he and Joe and Nash(who exited the match right after it was over)
OUT OF 5 STARS: 4 outta 5
Big Finish: I think this Pay Per View was good, the Samoa Joe rant at the beginning of the Main Event was great, someone needed to say those things and Joe had the balls to do it. Overall my rating was 3 outta 5 on the PPV.
Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. -
A Coin Has Two Sides: The Return Of Y2J & Edge
Posted on 11/25/07 12:38 PM
With the 2nd Coming of Y2J and Edge in the books the WWE is at a crossroads. They can use these returns to bolster their ratings and increase the PPV buy rates. Now I have no substantial evidence that the buy rates were actually lower than usual, but one could only imagine that would be the case lately. The story lines have been increasingly stagnant, the only thing we had to look forward to was Y2J's impending return. Which was much hyped and speculated, WWE and Jericho worked that angle to perfection(So Far)by pushing it along with the teaser promos(youtube=v=9vQrruLQl4E)for a month and a half. Now flip the coin to the side with Adam "Edge"Copeland's smiling face on it and see how his less-than-anticipated return to the ring at Survivor Series went. This is where things went sour for me, the way they handled this story line.
I will try to remain as objective as I can because the writers have done 2 things wrong with Edge already: #1.Having him interject himself into one of the best Hell In A Cell matches in recent history(My opinion) and #2. I am sickened by the way Vickie Guerrero and Edge were making out on Smackdown also. First let me say that I am glad that Vince had a heart and put Mrs. Guerrero on the payroll after Eddie died. But I don't like the fact that Edge's tongue was in her mouth on Friday. Why do we need to see this, this story line is as whack as the Maye Young/Mark Henry baby that turned out to be a hand, wasn't it? I guess WWE writers are on strike and they brought back Ed Ferrara to be a "scab" while the pros are on strike!
Edge returned with no heat in my estimation, while Jericho was literally pushed to the ceiling . He should have been, everyone wants to see him back in the ring because he has what the WWE needs right now :CHARISMA. I do not like Edge's character, never have. The only time I thought he was kind of cool was back in the days of the Brood with Gangrel and Christian. This is why the character works though, he evokes the response to "Hate" him. So for that he does his job so I tip my hat to Mr. Copeland for a job well done. But when he is on the microphone he just doesn't have IT. Cena has it,Austin has it, Rock has it, Edge doesn't even come close. After Raw last Monday night it was evident that Jericho never lost it!

Odd Ball Wrestling Federation
Posted on 11/23/07 6:56 PM
This might sound really crazy to at least a few people, but what is the XCW? Where is this based out of, and why have I never heard of it? These are the questions that have plagued me through my tryptophan(turkey)induced coma yesterday! I stumbled across an apparent small-time house show like program on satellite while looking for the Lions game(PATHETIC)but I only caught a few minutes of what looked like a feud between two guys named BJ Turner and Mike Fox I believe. Turner was the face and Fox the heel. The spot they did in the ring was executed well, but the microphone stuff was weak. Anyway, if anyone knows anything about this let me know. I am always interested in the small obscure stuff like that!
Happy Thanksgiving!
