So What Do You Think Will Happen for WrestleMania?
Posted on 2/13/08 3:36 PM
The RAW main event is the one I'm wondering about.
You got Triple H, who's married into the company and tends to get whatever he wants (like that minute-long title reign at No Mercy 2007 just to add to his number of world title reigns to try to rival Flair), you've got Cena who's recently been said to be very buddy-buddy with McMahon, though some consider him a kiss-ass. You've got Randy Orton, who stands up to management and fights to get somewhere in the company rather than sucking up or marrying into the company. And you've got Jeff Hardy who should be in the main event based on charisma alone and the fact that love him or hate him, you know he'd be a big time draw because he has one of the biggest pops of the night on RAW lately.
So who's going to main event?
Many believe it'll be John Cena versus Triple H (again)
It could be Randy Orton versus Triple H (but Trips would rather face Cena over Orton)
It could be Cena versus Jeff Hardy (which makes little sense the way the storylines have gone)
It could be Randy Orton versus Jeff Hardy (which could be very good due to the massive push Hardy got, and seeing as he was only stopped by Orton at the end of the Rumble match and got the upper hand on him for the better part of over a month, and I thought it was a great feud that should continue)
I'm not putting JBL, Jericho, Umaga, or Michaels into the main event possibility, because it's likely that JBL and Jericho will go one-on-one again at Mania, Umaga's a filler, and Michaels is said to be the one to take on Flair at Mania.
So which scenario do you think will play out, and why? Or, what scenario would you most like to see, and why? -
To Add to the Earlier Post Someone Made About Cena
Posted on 2/9/08 3:54 PM
I agree... Cena was pushed to fast, to hard, and now, he's pretty much got to have the championship to stay above water in the WWE. And because of that, we're all forced to watch this lower level talent be at the top of the ladder whenever he's healthy. It's not doing his career any good. Look at past examples of short-lived careers in the WWE due to very fast pushes:
Brock Lesnar
Bobby Lashley
Goldberg (despite the fact he was a big name in WCW first, they still pushed him too fast in WWE and he wasn't even gaining actual crowd support)
Those are just a few off the top of my head. They struggle once they go from their first match to a WWE Championship in a matter of 6 months.
People like Edge, and Jeff Hardy, and even Randy Orton. They're being built up CORRECTLY. Edge didn't win a heavyweight championship for a long, LONG time, and it means more to see him holding it now. He's had a LOT of time to create his gimmick in a way that works for a main event spot. Jeff Hardy's been with the WWE on and off for well over a decade, and his push coming now is perfect. He's had time to gain singles gold all over the WWE in the past and because of his decorated history, him being a title contender now has more credibility than a guy like Brock Lesnar who came in and jumped to the WWE Championship while other guys are busting their asses just to MAYBE get a shot at the Intercontinental Championship, which used to be the thing that was used to catapault stars into main event status.
They don't take the time to build people up anymore like they should. They take some big flashy guys, throw them in the main event, and occasionally, and rarely, push someone who actually DESERVES it such as Jeff Hardy's getting now. The way they're working Hardy and have worked on Orton and Edge is the way they should almost always do it. It'll mean that much more when they make it to the top. -
Impact's No Way Out Picks
Posted on 2/9/08 3:44 PM
I'ma make this one quick and not delve into it too much this month...
Career Threatening Match:
Ric Flair defeats Mr. Kennedy
You know Flair's at LEAST going to Mania
ECW Championship
(c) Chavo Guerrero defeats CM Punk
Filler match
WWE World Heavyweight Championship
(c) Edge defeats Rey Mysterio
Filler match
WWE Championship
John Cena defeats (c) Randy Orton
I don't want it, but Triple H does
Smackdown/ECW Elimination Chamber:
Undertaker defeats Big Daddy V, MVP, Finlay, Batista, & Khali
It's not much of a question that Taker vs Edge is happening.
RAW Elimination Chamber:
I'm not sure on this... it's a toss up in my view still, but I'll put the most likely scenario second of my two possibles:
Jeff Hardy defeats Jericho, JBL, Triple H, HBK, & Umaga
It's POSSIBLE, but unlikely... he's getting the push, and he'll win the championship in 2008 no matter what, but it's highly unlikely,... I think he'll actually go to being one of the last two in the match, then win Money in the Bank at Mania and go from there.
Triple H defeats Hardy, Jericho, JBL, HBK, & Umaga
The more likely scenario, and I think he'll barely pin Hardy to gain the win. -
To Elaborate on My Rumble Pick for the WWE Championship
Posted on 1/23/08 4:04 PM
Some of you mentioned how Hardy's mic skills are atrocious and some other things, and while he's not the best on the mic, he gives it his all, and has much improved from his tag team days with Matt when Jeff seldom spoke at all. He's taking initiative to be a main eventer and the company is allegedly extremely happy with his work.
So here's my thinking on what COULD happen in the next few months leading to WrestleMania:
Triple H is said to be headlining WrestleMania in the WWE Championship match. HOWEVER, that would mean either he's winning the Royal Rumble, or he's going to win contendership beforehand. They say it'll be a one-on-one main event, SO, for them to hold a RAW Elimination Chamber at No Way Out for the contendership at WrestleMania, that would make it a three-way if Hunter were to win the Rumble, and would take a lot away from SmackDown! Therefore, I truly belive Triple H WILL NOT win the Royal Rumble, because otherwise they wouldn't have RAW superstars looking for contendership in an Elimination Chamber.
With the other rumor being that both Orton and Hardy are in the Chamber, and Triple H is NOT listed as a participant in advance advertisements, that would lead one to believe that HHH wins the championship between the Rumble and No Way Out. Meaning that either Orton or Hardy will drop it to Triple H on a RAW.
Here's how I see it:
Because of the push Hardy has gotten, I can't see anyone else being ABLE to get a bigger push against the champion after the Rumble, because Orton has NOT gained the upper hand AT ALL since Armageddon. That NEVER happens. So unless Orton keeps the gold via disqualification (which with him, is getting far too commonplace), Hardy will walk out as an interim champion. And honestly, say all you want, if anyone deserves it, even for only a few weeks right now, it's him (much like Edge deserved to finally get pushed into the main event spotlight).
Triple H, who will likely be screwed out of the Rumble, will get all angry and pissy and weild his backstage power to gain himself a WWE Championship match against Hardy (or Orton, but in my prediction it's Jeff) on one of the RAW's heading towards No Way Out, and will win the Championship (they may very well continue the Orton / Hardy fued and have Hardy get screwed out of the title, as to not take away from his massive push).
With Hunter as the champion, both Hardy and Orton wind up in the Elimination Chamber, and the way talks have gone, one of those two are going to win the match and main event WrestleMania 24 and face Triple H.
I know, it's a LOT to predict, and I have few facts to go on, and things in this rivalry have not gone the way I would have ever guessed, which is GOOD (they need to do things more unpredictably), but I have a strong feeling this scenario is the most likely to occur.
What do you think?

Let's Review The Topic of Ring Talent
Posted on 1/20/08 2:41 PM
As always, I'm going to begin with the ladies first, because they're sorely overlooked and they shouldn't be at all. As far as the WWE and the Women's division, they manage it fairly horribly. Mickie James and Beth Phoenix are good enough to headline every womens match on RAW, but seldom do. Instead, Candice (when healthy) or Maria or another talentless bimbo does. Victoria, who's one of the best female in-ring talents isn't even ON the show that the only realistic championship she can hold is on. Why? Instead she's fueded with Michelle McCool, who honestly, isn't worth two damns either. The Diva Search is a joke. They bring in half the finalists as interviewers or something, so why even narrow it to one? And even that one, doesn't know a damn thing about wrestling. I was happy with Ashley Massaro however, for at least TRYING to become an actual WRESTLER, though she still needs a LOT of work in the ring. Melina Perez, has really shown that she can go from a sexy valet to being a legitimate in-ring performer, and much like Trish Stratus when she was just starting out, has the potential to become a huge impact in the division. So anyone who wants to talk poorly about Melina, don't. Trish Stratus when she debuted, knew even LESS about wrestling than Melina did, and look how Trish worked her way into history books. But it's the women that DON'T work to improve their in-ring skills that should be banished from the WWE and pro wrestling altogether. Such as Kelly or Layla. What are they for? Eye candy? Hell, watch a porn. I'm watching RAW, ECW, and SmackDown! for (oh my god) WRESTLING. Even if it's the WOMEN, I want to see WRESTLING.
Then there are the men. People like John Cena and Batista are often in the spotlight, and honestly, aside from LOOKING different, they're realy just the same big stupid guy. Lashley is a complete mock of Lesnar, if you ever noticed the similarities in ring attire AND entrances. And he doesn't do nothing to dazzle me either. Rey Mysterio, though I'm not a fan of him at all, is one of the best in-ring talents there is. Hands down. The sad thing is, because of his size, it's not realistic for him to be in the main events all the time and hold the World Championship. I know wrestling's predetermined and all, but you have to have SOME degree of realism too, and his World Championship run, though much deserved and I respect him greatly for, was a little far-fetched and technically SHOULDN'T have happened, but even I'm glad they gave him that one. A second run is what I would not be happy with. There are too many people such as the Undertaker and Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair who are taking up too much TV time also. Yes, I understand they're some of the best ever, and I have massive respect for all of them. But there comes a time when you just HAVE to hang up the boots. Steve Austin realized it, and that's why he hasn't come back (because he IS indeed cleared to wrestle again if he so chose to). There are young, hungry talented people waiting for their chance at main event status, who in TODAYS WORLD, deserve it more than YESTERDAYS LEGENDS. Jeff Hardy is shockingly getting that chance. MVP is talented and a great heel and should get bumped up also. Edge made the jump and he's phenomenal, and possibly one of the best heels in the business. Matt Hardy MORE than deserves SOMETHING. And there are more, but those are just some examples of talents who have been held down. Some of them having been in the company for well over ten YEARS, being overlooked for men who walk in the door and win a world championship in their rookie WWE year. And then there's the tag team division... I'll keep this simple and short -- World Tag Team Champions Bob Holly and Cody Rhodes? With a tag team like London and Kendrick on RAW? I'm sorry but that's sad. And John Morrison and the Miz? Those two have potential to be MASSIVE singles stars, but instead are held down in the oh-so-commonplace "let's take two random ppl an give them the tag gold" status. Instead, we get four straight weeks of CM Punk versus Chavo Guerrero. You can't mix things up when you're only other two main event status individuals are defending tag titls they shouldn't even be holding.
