I Love Mike Adamle
by cptcharisma1157 on 5/6/08 10:18 PM
Ok, so this man has been providing his voice to ECW for a like two weeks. Instantaneoulsy, before he called one match the fans decided that they want to hate him. I liked Joey Styles a lot; he was great at play by play. That being said Mike Adamle is more than qualified to replace him. Would I like to see Coach keep announcing in the WWE? Of course. would I like to see Josh Matthews finally make his way back on TV? Absolutely. But has Mike Adamle done a bad job? No way in hell.
Fans hate Adamle, because he represents the new ECW. Honestly, I don't understand why anybody hates the new ECW. All these people chant ECW and claim they miss the old show when none of them ever watched that. None of the fans that go to a WWE event even remember the old ECW. They're all a bunch of posers. And because they want to look cool, they take their frustration out on a man who's only fault thus far has been calling Tazz "the Tazz".
As if what I said above weren't, Adamle has been handling a situation where everybody's ganging up on him with nothing but class. Last night he came out and announced with Lawler and did a solid job. Adamle did nothing but complement the King, and as he left he said it had been "an honor." However, for some reason Lawler was consistently rude, and made fun of Adamle for the rest of the night... Not to mention the pissed off look Ross got when he learned he had to put a new announcer over.
Now tonight, Adamle again came out with nothing but class. He apologized to the fans for their horrible acts, and they continued to boo. Somebody tell wannabes to let Styles go and accept the fact that Adamle is a good person and a good announcer. After all, Adamle has been announcing for a month and has botched one name; Michael Cole has been announcing for 10 years and still thinks every move is a spinebuster. If your gonna rip an announcer, please let it be Cole.

in case you can't tell "As if what I said above weren't" is supposed to be "As if what I said above weren't ENOUGH"**

I am announcing the formation of the National Association to Advance ECW Fans, the NAAECWF. As an ECW fan I am tired of having my opinion misrepresented, and tired of being accused of clinging to the past. I am tired of having bad wrestlers and bad announcers defended on the grounds that I am stuck in the past. I'm sorry, but EVERY wrestling critic out there agrees that Adamle can't call a match for crap. You almost never hear him, when he does call a move he doesn't even miscall it, he just says, "would you look at that," he can't even get wrestlers' names right, he's just bad. I resent being accused of making false accusations just because I liked ECW, Adamle is just bad.
I'm not going to defend Cole on his own merits, but I will defend him against Adamle. At least Cole CALLS the action. That means you hear his voice more than twice a match, it means if there's action going on in the ring you hear him calling it. At least Cole has SOME personality and can get some very entertaining banter going. At least Cole knows the names of the people in the ring at the time.
As for Joey Styles, yes he was close to ECW fans' hearts, but that was for a reason. You could be the most likeable guy by those fans' standards, if you didn't fo your job right they would run you out of town. They loved Styles because he was an entertaining announcer, because he could call frantic action, because he could come up with names for moves he had never seen before, and because he was damn good. We do not hate Adamle because he replaced Styles, we hate Adamle because he is NO GOOD at calling wrestling matches and Styles was brilliant at it.
Now, I'm not saying that I don't feel a slight bit sorry for Adamle. I know he's out of his element, and that he's getting reamed by fan and critic reviews, but I still contend that he does not belong in there. Besides, he refuses to do even basic homework as evidenced by the fact that he can't get simple names right, let alone moves. It's not like this guy is juggling three jobs, he has ONE job to do and after a solid month of criticism he still can't do it right. You say he hasn't done a bad job, defend that position. What has he done right? I'm at a loss, personally, to find anything besides maybe coining some phrases that some people find neat. Still, if that's all he's got then he should be a writer, not an announcer. Can't call action, can't call spots, can't get names right, and boring as a piece of cardboard, bad announcer.

Exactly, theone86. The fact is is that Adamle is flat-out TERRIBLE, and anybody can see that, not just ECW "posers" (BTW me and my older brother use to watch ECW in the mid-90's on the MSG Network). He fucks up names of moves and wrestlers, and just sits there and acts amazed. He makes nonsensical comparisons and statements. There's just so much wrong with him.
From JamesP on 5/7/08 5:48 AM
And Joey Styles was one of the best PBP's out there. He knew the name of almost every move to the point where you knew you were innvoative if Joey Styles didn't know the name of your move. Adamle's hated even worse because he's terrible at calling matches, yet replaced someone who is one of the best. I'm sure Jest Harvey and THE Tazz agree with me.

ECW has gone down hill the only thing good the new ECW has done since coming back is having Show on there and having Kane as the champion
i don't really pay much attention to Adamle and when i did which was this past week on raw he SUCKED he completly SUCKED
From scottiboi on 5/8/08 1:19 AM
my main problem with Adamle is that sometimes he'll say something that has nothing to do with anything at all, it the ring or otherwise.
And he doesnt know what a figure 4 looks like. He's been with the company for months and i guess he never watched a Ric Flair match.
From theone86 on 5/8/08 4:49 AM
You know what the horrible thing is? He has the WWE video library including matches from WCW, AWA, Stampede Wrestling, ECW, WCCW, and WWE's entire history just sitting there at his disposal. I'm sure if he really wanted to do some research he could exploit that amazing resource, but he doesn't. He must not even like wrestling, If I worked at WWE I'd try to lock myself in that vault and just watch matches.
From theminister on 5/8/08 3:24 PM
Not only does he have the massive library, he has one of greatest storytellers of all time, Jim Ross, at his disposal to ask questions of and get tips from. His color man Tazz knows absolutely ever move in the business. He could pick his brain. And the guy he replaced Joey Styles still works for the company, so Adamle could easily talk with him and go over moves, names, how to call a match, etc.
Sadly it seems that Adamle thought the job would be easy for a guy with his resume. I would be curious to know how long he knew he would be ECW's PBP guy before taking over the position because he certainly didn't seem to do any prep work before or since his debut.
From fyrooz4125 on 5/8/08 10:38 PM
Agree. Adamle has all the disposals in the world to improve his performance. He doesnt have the initiative to use it. Please put Styles back, or at least have someone who is MUCH better than Adamle.
