Future Hall of Famers Part 2
by 92tombstone92 on 8/19/08 3:29 PM
The second part of my future hall of famer blogs will include the follwing superstars: Shawn Michaels, John Morrison, Matt Hardy
Shawn Michaels: One superstar that will deffinately be in the Hall of Fame. Shawn Michaels has had one of the greatest careers in wrestling history. He is one of the greatest showman of all time. Shawn Michaels was in the very first Ladder Match and his 61 min some odd seconds iron man match with Bret Hart was obsolutetly amazing. Shawn Michaels has been many memorable matches and feuds. Also, HBK has been in one of the greatest factions (stables) of all time D Generation X.
John Morrison: Has had a big impact ever since he debut. When he debuted he was known as Johnny Nitro one member of MNM. John Morrison won the tag team gold in the first couple of months he was in the WWE. He has also been a 2 or 3 time IC Champion and a ECW Champion. John Morrison still has a great career ahead of him.
Matt Hardy: He is a 7 time Tag champion and a 1 time U.S champion. Matt Hardy is one of the masters of the ladder match and TLC match. Matt Hardy was in the first ever Tables Ladders and Chairs match. Matt Hardy started wrestling at the age of 19 and is now just in his early thirty's. Matt Hardy is great both a tag team competitor and a singles competitor. Matt Hardy has been in a very memorable feud in his career and that is him vs. Edge. Matt Hardy will probably get many pushes in his career.

The Show Stopper, the Main Eventer Mr. HBK himself def. above any, bleeds this business more than anyone and deserves to be in the HOF. He was in the 1st ever Hell in a Cell match, Iron Man match and Elimination Chamber match. Michaels has had a great career and still has some of the best matches on the card. He is the man!
Morrison is still a little wet behind the ears. Yeah he has won the IC title, WWE Tag Titles a few times and his biggest feat was the ECW title but mainly he's been put in that tag team role quite a bit since he has been in the WWE. Yeah I can see him becoming a HOFer but he has a lot of years a head of him.
Matt Hardy is a great athlete, under estimated and under utilized in his character. His greatest feud is against Edge only because the reason was so close and personal that it was a cash cow for the WWE and they had to dip into it. He has been the WCW tag Champion, WWE tag Champion, European Champion, Hardcore Champion, Cruiserweight Champion, US Champ and 6 Time World Champion. Matt Hardy was also part of the greatest tag team TLC matches ever. The man is a great performer and soon will grab that "brass ring" and win that major title. He has lived up to the rep of a HOFer

HBK is a guy who should be in your All Time Top 10. He is the most entertaining wrestler I have ever seen. Should already be in the HOF.
Morrison is way too young to be in this conversation. He hasn't done much of anything yet except win secondary titles. Talk to me in 10 years.
Matt is a very good wrestler but has always been overshadowed by his brother. Again given the WWE's wishy washy qualifications for a Hall of Famer, Matt probably gets in one day. But in my opinion, there's just something about him that makes me say he's not a REAL HOF'er. Not sure what it is but he lacks a certain SUPERSTAR quality that every hall of famer should have.

the reason Matt has alwasy been overshadow by his brother Jeff is because a lot more people looked at the risk taking and high flying.

I agree. But Matt has always played second string to his brother. The fact is Jeff is considered the real star of the family. He has gotten many more World Title matches (if not for his drug problems he probably would have gotten a run with the World Title). He is a 4 time IC champion. Compare that to Matt. Matt is a ONE TIME US champion and has never gotten a World Title push.

Good morrow, fellows. Buzz Killington here, again, to spread my finite and glorious wisdom upon these humble preceedings...
Shawn Michaels: I agree, one hundred percent. He will undoubtedly be a first ballot HoFer, as soon as he truly decides that he doesn't have anything left to prove... Entertainment aside, passion aside, pride aside, HBK is getting dangerously close to wearing out his welcome in wrestling. We love him, but, he's becoming a nostalgia act and, though he may still be the "Showstoppa", even too much of a good thing is bad for you (meaning bad for his legacy, as well as the business as a whole). Shawn's not bringing in new fans, and, I'm not trying to be a dick, but that's what this business needs...
John Morrison: Really? A Tough Enough competitor brought up in HoF consideration?!? He's made an "impact" on wrestling?!? Yeah, he's won a title or two, but, in no way shape or form does that qualify him as a "potential" HoFer! Chris Benoit will never get HoF consideration, much like Pete Rose in baseball, for his personal problems outside the ring. If Morrison makes it in, just because he had great abs (yes, I'm JEALOUS of his abs!) then I'll truly lose my love for this sport. I know good ole' JR throws "future Hall of Famer" around like rice at a wedding, but, c'mon! This guy has done nothing ("AND THE ROCK MEANS... NOTHING!!") remotely HoF worthy in his short career. HoFs was designated for those who made significant contributions and left indellible marks in their respective fields... if John Morrison left tomorrow, no one fan would give a cockroach fart if he came back or not (sorta like D'lo Brown and R-Truth[smfh]...)
Matt Hardy:
I respect the guy. He's busted his ass to achieve he and his brother's dream. His tag matches against Edge + Christian and The Dudleyz are LEGENDARY. Hell, I have to admit that his reincarnation as Matt Hardy: Version 1 was hilarious (especially during his Cruiserweight feud with Rey Mysterio), add his little MFer Shannon Moore, and he found a niche... But that's where his singles adulation ends. With the exception of his feuds with Edge (which, as previously stated, was TOO juicy for the WWE to NOT cash in on) and MVP (whom should be given the credit for ressurecting interest in Matt Hardy), he's been sorta stale. He's the white bread to Jeff's garlic, the Marty Jannetty to Jeff's Shawn Michaels, the Mike Rotundo to Jeff's Million Dollar Man... okay, enough of the retro tag team references, I think my point is made. Will Matt be a HoFer? Yes. On the merit of his Tag Team work, Matt will definitely get in. But, I do feel that he will slip into the shadows ofJeff's individual star.

Morrison did make a big impact MNM helped spark the feud of Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero. And i for the white bread and garlic joke that really doesn't make sense. Also, for Morrison he still has many years ahead of him.
From FLCchampRUSH on 8/21/08 12:04 AM
Eddie and Mysterio have worked together for YEARS. Long before Johnny Nitro did his first compound crunch! He gets no credit for a feud that manifested... JACK SHIT in the footnotes of history of Rey or Eddie. As for his ECW Title reign... Yeah, he was entertaining in his feud with Punk. Hell, I'm not gonna take the talent aspect out of this, either! The kid is exciting to watch! But, Mikey Whipwreck was ECW champ, too, when it was a much more credible promotion, and I don't see anyone starting a crowd chant or standing on a soapbox for Mikey to get inducted!
As for the white bread/garlic joke, I'll explain, if you noticed all the examples I gave were of nominal recognition, in the long run. All of the examples were the "stale", plain counterparts to superstars who trancended their respective eras. We all know "who" Mike Rotundo is as Irwin R. Schyster, but, Ted DiBiase (Million Dollar Man, not, Richie Rich) is the charismatic standout. Same with Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels... Michaels was the looks and charm and personality... Jannetty was just there. I'm not disqualifying Matt's accomplishments, but, if Jeff stays on the up and up, drug AND healthwise, then Matt will slip into his brother's shadow indefinitely.
