ECW: Fresh Blood
by mikearienti on 7/9/08 4:20 PM
Is it just me, or does anyone else thing having new talent on ECW is a good idea?
For the last few months, we've seen the "talent exchange" with SmackDown! get a bit stale and pointless. However, look at this list...
1. Kofi Kingston (now on Raw)
2. Evan Bourne (aka Matt Sydal)
3. Armando Estrada (no longer the cigar toting GM)
4. Ricky Ortiz (I found Carlito's "hair twin!")
5. Braden Walker (the former "Wildcat" Chris Harris
6. Tony Atlas (Mark Henry's new manager?)
That's a pretty good set of "new blood" for ECW. Maybe they won't look so "bush league" now.

I think ECW is getting more and more like a feeder promotion. 10-1 odds most of those wrestlers on your list will either be on another promotion or off TV within a year. I think ECW is being treated exclusively as a jumping off point, and I think it's a shame. I do think they're getting better because of talent like Kofi and Bourne, but I think they could do so much better with this promotion.

The only people from that list I see becoming a champion in the future is Bourne. He's getting over with the fans pretty quick so he has a chance of making it. Estrada needs to stop wrestling because he clearly can't. He may know a few moves, but knowing moves doesn't mean you can wrestle. Chris Harris (or Braden Walker) I liked him in TNA, but his debut match on ECW was weak. Then again he was facing a horrible opponent so its not his fault. I don't know where the future lies for Harris yet, but hopefully they use him right.

I think adding new people to ECW is a good idea. It breathes new life into it. Cause lets face it ECW hasn't been that good for a loooooonnnnnnng time. So maybe some new blood might make it interesting again. My favorite so far is Evan Bourne. Now if they could make ECW 2 hours and have more Extreme Rules matches then it would exciting to watch.

see ECW can be the best Promotion the WWE can produce but why would the promotion be called ECW, there's nothing extreme about it, i mean sure there are Extreme Rules Matches but they are somewhat tame compare to the good old days of ECW, The commentator Mike Adamle is improving(some what) but really, ECW needs a better commentator, maybe Shane Douglas(is he still alive....)

Shane Douglas would never work for Vince McMahon, period.
I get the reasoning behind adding fresh blood, but the idea is that you keep the fresh blood on when they get big so that they can establish the next batch of fresh blood. That's never going to happen with ECW the way it is. They're just going to keep pumping wrestlers through and calling it giving ECW fresh blood, when in reality all it's doing is cementing ECW's place as a feeder promotion. WWECW has never been short on talent, the real problem is that no one wants to treat it like a real promotion.
