  • I Can't Believe Creative Thought that Would Work

    Posted on 8/24/08 5:53 PM

I can see that the most of us (as fans/marks) don't fully agree with some of the creative decisions that are put on Raw or Smackdown for our viewing pleasure. There are times when you step back and ask what the hell were they thinking with this storyline? Or why did they throw that into the mix of rivalry.

I'd say the worst storyline drawn up was back in 2002 between Triple H and Kane, where Triple H was going on to say that Kane was a "killer" and that he killed a girl while driving drunk one night after a party. It was the whole Katie Vick story line and it even had a vignette with Triple H dressing up as Kane and then performing what looked to be necrophilia on Katie Vick?s ?body? at her funeral. That was just distasteful to say the least. Both guys had great matches to finally come to ahead at the 2002 No Mercy Pay Per View to unify the WWE World Heavyweight title and the Intercontinental title. The match was great leaving Triple H the victor and allowing a rematch the next night with Kane losing a Title vs. Mask match and finally having him unmasked. The feud could have been good with out the whole necrophilia BS.

What else left a sour taste in your mouth with creative's decisions on storylines?

  • Intercontinental Title Not Holding Value

    Posted on 8/19/08 5:23 PM

The Intercontinental Championship doesn't seem to hold the same prestige as it once had. That title is, what most superstars say, the "work horse belt". The belt use to signify that, that specific superstar was on his was up to being a head liner. Those were the guys who would work his ass off during the mid card and keep the show hyped up through the night until the main event took over. It's a shame to see athletes who are well beyond skilled constantly getting the Intercontinental title but receiving no real big push for the World title. Chris Jericho is a real good example, 8 time IC Champ, he's the man to unify the WWE and WCW World Heavyweight titles; the man is talented in the ring as well as the mic and yea he has a great feud going on with Shawn Michaels right now but since he has been back, he has only received 1 title shot and that was interrupted by JBL. Jericho needs the push if any.

Besides Jericho, other stars have held the title have gotten significant pushes like Triple H, Austin, Rock and Bret Hart. I know I'm not a huge fan of his but, the match between Bret Hart and Mr. Perfect for the IC title back at SummerSlam 91' was by far one of my favorite of all times in IC title matches. Both men put on one hell of a match. During that era (the federation and the Attitude) the Intercontinental belt was "special" and held high prestige but now it just seems like the belt is just on the show so it can balance out the amount of titles for each brand. There needs to be more of en emphasis on that belt to regain the recognition it deserves.

  • Championship Scramble

    Posted on 8/18/08 10:00 PM

Mike Adamle's new original seems good for the main event at Unforgiven. I like the concept of having a timed match in which numerous pinfalls can happen and the person who gets the last pinfall will become champion. Yeah i'm not to thrilled that usual two peole are in the main event (Cena and Batista) but it should make for an interesting match. The Champ def does not have the advantage with all these people in the match.

I like it cause its different and WWe needs something new to appeal to the crowd and keep our interest I just wish they had Jericho in the event but after seeing him KO Shawn Michales wife I can understand that the fued between them two is gonna continue. What do you think about the Championship Scramble?

  • The Wrestling Matches of Today

    Posted on 8/15/08 10:25 PM

Growing up with wrestling on TV during the late 80's and early 90's you would always see the regular good versus evil, the baby face against the heel. That was pretty much the standard of pro wrestling during that era and it had classic matches all around different organizations with the top baby faces of that time being Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Sting and Ricky the dragon Steamboat against great heels like Ric Flair, Rick Rude, Randy Savage and Lex Luger.

The matches were the standard until WrestleMania VI when the main event between two baby faces; Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior went head to head, title for title in the Ultimate Challenge. The match was a classic and was one of the 1st ever baby face against baby face matches.

Now a days the companies like to mix it up with either heel vs. heel, baby face vs. baby face, and/or baby face vs. heel. Right now the WWE is trying so hard to push the match at SummerSlam between Cena vs. Batista; two baby faces?s which could turn out to be a great match between the two biggest egos in the business today. It might surprise a few how well this match can go. My favorite baby face vs. baby face match would have to be the Shawn Michaels vs. John Cena WrestleMania 23 match. That match lived up to the hype and it was one hell of a roller coaster of a ride. Even though I despise Cena he kept up with Michaels throughout the match and both put on a great showing. I'm more partial to Heel vs. Baby face matches myself.

What do you think of the matches from the past and the ones today?

& do you think the wrestling companies are showing more matches featuring the same two types of characters or the original heel vs. baby face?

  • Things that make you say Holy Sh*t!

    Posted on 8/5/08 6:13 PM

In the world of wrestling athletes are put in a ring to entertain both the crowd and views at home. Majority of the moves they perform do put on a good story in the ring but some just make you stand up and say "HOLY SH*T!? Not every wrestler produces some of this aerial or "death defying" moves but for those who do I applaud you for giving that extra little bit. Some instances are:

Kurt Angle doing a Moonsault and missing off the top of the cage.

Taz DDTing Bam Bam Bigelow through the walk entrance to the ring at ECW Living Dangerously pay per view in 98'

Shane McMahon doing his Coast to coast off the top rops (even though he bit it off RVD) and his suicide elbow drop off the top of the titantron and missing Kane duing thier last man standing match at the 2003 Unforgiven pay per view.

Jeff Hardy . . . .what can't be said about the man doing all that crazy shit; the Swanton off the side of the titantron on to Randy Orton, The Swanton miss off the top of the Steel Cage against the Dudley?s at 2001 Survivor series.

Edge spearing Mick Foley through a table that was set on fire at WrestleMania 22

Mick Foley . . . . Everything this crazy son of a bitch has done is wow! Being pedigreed onto thumb tacks by triple H at the 2000 Royal Rumble, being thrown off the hell in a cell at the King of the Ring 1998 by the Undertaker and all the chair shots he received from the Rock at the 99' royal rumble.

All of these stand out in my mind as "WOW" moments, but the one that stands out in my mind as the worst (besides when Sid Vicious breaking his leg in half when he fought Scott Stiener) Was at WrestleMania 19, the match between Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar, when Lesnar went for that Shooting Star Press and came crashing down on his neck was a Holy Sh*t moment for me. What are some of your wow/holy sh*t moments from wrestling's past that stand out in your mind?
