Best In The Clutch
by SnoHo24 on 8/14/08 4:05 PM
With The Undertaker returning at Summerslam, it will mark the return of one of the greatest (arguably THE greatest) wrestlers in the history of the sport. Taker is an ever present threat to all who step into the ring, and wins matches when they count (if outside interference doesn't come into play).
This said, plus the 16-0 Wrestlemania streak, and wins over every single major wrestler the business has seen since 1990, it is safe to say Undertaker is one of the most clutch wrestlers ever. But is he the BEST in the clutch?
There are so many other clutch wrestlers out there who could be relied on in major matches: Goldberg, Stone Cold, Hogan (in the 80's), Flair (in the 80's), Andre, John Cena (during that long title reign a year or two ago), and many others.
Who is the greatest clutch superstar the business have ever seen?

The best clutch right now and i hate to say it is John Cena if Orton was injured i'd probably go with Orton, but the best of all time i would have to say is the Undertaker, and no not just because he's my favorite superstar because honestly when has Undertaker never been on the top of the ladder.

I'll say Stone Cold. 3 Times he wrestled for the WWF Title at Wrestlemania and 3 Times he won it. In the real world that's clutch.

I'm guessing a 'clutch superstar' is like a big-game player, someone who steps up for the big events and when the pressure is on?
My choices would be Triple H and John Cena. I like Cena, but lots of his matches on Raw are generic. But on PPV he turns up his game a notch and puts on very good matches. I don't really like Triple H much these days, had enough of him over the 9 years I've been watching wrestling, but he still manages to impress every couple of months by pulling out a good performance on big cards.
The best example of this is the Night of Champions, when pretty much everything before was very lacklustre, but Cena and Trips saved the show with a very good main event.
