With the 2nd Coming of Y2J and Edge in the books the WWE is at a crossroads. They can use these returns to bolster their ratings and increase the PPV buy rates. Now I have no substantial evidence that the buy rates were actually lower than usual, but one could only imagine that would be the case lately. The story lines have been increasingly stagnant, the only thing we had to look forward to was Y2J's impending return. Which was much hyped and speculated, WWE and Jericho worked that angle to perfection(So Far)by pushing it along with the teaser promos(youtube=v=9vQrruLQl4E)for a month and a half. Now flip the coin to the side with Adam "Edge"Copeland's smiling face on it and see how his less-than-anticipated return to the ring at Survivor Series went. This is where things went sour for me, the way they handled this story line.
I will try to remain as objective as I can because the writers have done 2 things wrong with Edge already: #1.Having him interject himself into one of the best Hell In A Cell matches in recent history(My opinion) and #2. I am sickened by the way Vickie Guerrero and Edge were making out on Smackdown also. First let me say that I am glad that Vince had a heart and put Mrs. Guerrero on the payroll after Eddie died. But I don't like the fact that Edge's tongue was in her mouth on Friday. Why do we need to see this, this story line is as whack as the Maye Young/Mark Henry baby that turned out to be a hand, wasn't it? I guess WWE writers are on strike and they brought back Ed Ferrara to be a "scab" while the pros are on strike!
Edge returned with no heat in my estimation, while Jericho was literally pushed to the ceiling . He should have been, everyone wants to see him back in the ring because he has what the WWE needs right now :CHARISMA. I do not like Edge's character, never have. The only time I thought he was kind of cool was back in the days of the Brood with Gangrel and Christian. This is why the character works though, he evokes the response to "Hate" him. So for that he does his job so I tip my hat to Mr. Copeland for a job well done. But when he is on the microphone he just doesn't have IT. Cena has it,Austin has it, Rock has it, Edge doesn't even come close. After Raw last Monday night it was evident that Jericho never lost it!
